FLEXIBLE ADHESIVE BRACE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 27, 1906.
. Application filed August 19, 1905.A Serial NO- 274,376-
lo all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED FRESGHL, of Chicago, in the county of, Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flexible Adhesive Braces, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in flexible adhesive braces designed to be applied to the back and shoulders of a person to hold the shoulders'in proper position, and thereby to straighten the form and overcome the stooping position generally characterized by calling a person round shouldered.
Theinvention consists generally in a brace formed of flexible material having adhesive material applied to the end portions thereof, with the center portion plain or without the adhesive material.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan view of my newly-invented flexible adhesive brace. Fig. 2 shows the manner of applying the same to the shoulders of a person.
' In the drawings, 2 represents the body of the iiexible brace, which is preferably formed of cloth or other strong flexible material. It is preferably oblong in form, with a recess 3, adapted to fit against the neck of the wearer. The end portions of the brace are provided with adhesive material 4 4, whilethe center portion 5 is plain or without such material.
In using the device the person to whom it l is to be applied is required to stand in an erect position with the shoulders thrown back, and the brace is then applied with the adhesive material against the iiesh of the person directly over each shoulder blade, with the recess 3 close to the neck. The portion 5, which is without the adhesive material, extends across from one shoulder to the other over the spinal column or center of the back without coming in contact with the iiesh at that point. I find that it is not advisable to have the brace in contact with the body of the wearer at any point between the shoulders or over the spinal column.
I claim as my invention- 1. The herein-described flexible adhesive brace, comprising the body portion 2 formed of exible material with the end portions 4 4 covered with an adhesive material and the center plain portion 5, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
2. The herein-described flexible adhesive brace, comprising the body portion 2 formed of flexible material with the end portions 4 4 covered with an adhesive material, the center plain portion 5, and the recess 3, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day of August, 1905.
ALFRED FRESCHL.
