Description
PATENT-ED FEB. 27, 1906.
J. R. SPENCER. PHOTOGRAPHIO PRINTING FRAME.
APPLIOATION'PILED FEB-24,1905.
JONATHAN R. SPENCER, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
PHOTOGRAPHlC-PRINTING FRAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 27, 1906.
Application filed February 24, 1905. Serial No. 247,190.
To (bl/l whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JONATHAN R. SPENCER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Photographic-Printing Frames, of which the following is a s peeification.
My invention resides in means to removably and securely hold the sensitized paper on the ne ative in the frame before and while the printing-frame is being closed; and the object of my invention is to hold the sensitized paper in place after being placed in the frame and while the frame is being closed preparatory to eX osing the frame for printmg. I accomplis this object by means of the device described herein and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which A and B represent, res ectively, a lower and upper member of a p otographic-printing frame hinged at D, as shown. In the lower member of the frame is the film-receiv ing frame C, in which is securely placed the glass face H, adapted to receive the film (not shown) for printing. On this frame are lugs G, adapted to limit the movement of the sensitized paper when being placed over the film for printing. These two members are plivotally secured together by the pintle-bolt Surrounding the pintle-bolt is the spring I F. One end F of the spring projects outwardly and along the member B and penetrates the same, holding that end of the spring rigidly thereto and in alinement therewith. The other end F projects outwardly and over the negative when in place in the member A of the frame. When in this open position,
this end of the spring Will project over and aslight distance above the negative in the frame, permitting the easy insertion of the paper into its appropriate seat over the negative. Now when the free ends of the members are moved together the projecting end F of the spring will first contact with and frictionally engage the sensitized pa er and firmly hold the paper in its seat w ile the members are bemg closed, preventing any movement of the paper from the seat in the act of closing the members together.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A printing-frame of the character herein described comprising two members pivotally secured together as shown; a pintle-bolt securing the same together; in combination with a sensitized aper-holding spring wound around the p1ntle-bolt pivotally securing the members of the frame, one end of the spring being rigidly secured to one member of the frame and the other end thereof adapted to project over the face of the other member when the members are in their open position.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 16th day of February, 1905.
JONATHAN R. SPENCER.
