Description
HENRY BRUNK, 0E ALBANY, NEW YORK.` y
LAP-ANVIL FUR SHOEMAKERE i Specification of Letters Patent No.A 8,111, dated Mayzl, 1851.
To all whom it may concern: y
`Be it known that I, HENRY .BRUNin of the city of Albany and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Instrument for the Use of Boot and Shoe Makers, which I call Brinks Shoemakers Lap -Anvil; and I declare the following specification with the` drawings hereto appended as partof the same to be a full and complete description thereof.
Figure 1 exhibits a vertical section through thecenter of the anvil in the direction of its length. Fig. 2 exhibits a perspective View of the anvil.
From these delineations it will be seen that the instrument is a T shaped block of metal, usually of about double the size represented inthe drawings, with the upper arms of the T a and b curved downward in such a manner as to adapt itself to the limbs of a workman, the shank c dropping down between his thighs, in order to be firmly grasped between them. On the top of the block there is a circular or oval shaped `extension thereof upward, with a smooth upper face f forming the anvil proper. `At one end on the upper edge of one of the arms is a flat-topped prismatic block e whose object is to act as a fulcrum or purchase for nippers, when stretching leather.
What I claim as my invention and desirev to secure by Letters Patent is- A metal anvil shaped substantially as set forth. and described, in the within specication with its drawings; that is, with a form adapting it to be held conveniently, upon and between the knees and thighs of a workman, having a projection above the mass of metal conveniently formed `into an anvil face, with a small prismatic block near the extremity of one of the arms, as a fulcrum for nippers when the same are used in "stretching or manipulating leather.
