citizen of the United States, residing et Butfalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cleaning Deviaes, of which. the following is a specification.`

This invention relates to improvements in devices for cleaning lookout or head windows of cars, locomotive-cabs, and the like; and it has for its object to provide an eifect ive device which can be readily operated from Within to free the outside of the Window from rain, dust, snow, and other substances, to provide simple means for simultaneously cleaning both the inner and outer sides of the window whereby the steam on the innerrside may -be cleanedv ofi', to provide means for scraping the outer side of the window, to free l the same' o ice or such other adhering metter' Which-isimpossible to vremove with the cleaning rubber or pad, and to further improve on devices oi this character in a inenner to 'loe hereinafter described;

Normally the device is held elevated, in which position it is locked by suitable means (herein shown as pivoted stops L) which are turned to lie underneath the handles and across the slots E. TWhen in this position, the stops are locked against movement by pins M, inserted into apertures m in the window-haine, thus preventing accidental lowering of the device While holding the saine in readiness for use at all times.

To prevent the Wind, rain, Src., entering the vestibule or housing when thedevice is elevatcd, each slot is covered by a strip of rubber N or other suitable material, one end of each strip being affixed to the cross-head G and theI other end thereof being attached to the Window-traine beneath the slot it covers. When iowering the device to clean the window, the strips loop themselves, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, thus permitting free action oi' the device.
