GEORGE A. SWINEEORD, OF CANTON, OHIO.
TRACK-BRACKET. I
Y No. 806,020.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 28, 1905.
Application iiled July 11, 1904. Serial No. 216,021.
dohereby declare that the following is a clear, full, and exact description thereof,.ref-
erence being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure l is a view showing a section of the track and brackets connected thereto. Fig. 2 is a detached view of the bracket. Fig. 3 is a detached view of the bracket, showing a slight modification and illustrating a-portion of the track in dotted lines. Fig. 4 is a view showing a portion of the track and illustrating the bracket-connecting apertures. Fig. 5 is a'longitudinal section of the bracket illustrated in Fig. 3 and a transverse section of the track, showing a hanger located thereon.
The present invention has particular'relation to tracks designed to carrywhat is known as sliding doors for barns and other structures.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the draw- In the accompanying drawings, Vl represents the track, which is sup orted at the reqllliired height by means of t e brackets 2 or t eir modified form 3, vwhich brackets are secured to the building by means of suitable screws or their e uivalents 4. The brackets are each rovide with the right-angled portion 5, W 'ch right-angled portion is'formed of a length sufficient to extend the track 1 from the building a sucient distance'to allow the hangers 6 to move back and forth upon the track without interference. The hangers are of course provided. with the traveling wheels 7 and the door properly attached to the han ers 6 in the usual manner. The right-angled` anges 5 are each provided with the spaced tangs 8, which spaced tangs are preferably formed angular and of a size to corres ond with the size of the apertures 9, forme in the track 1.
It will be understood that by providing the tangs and spacing said tangs the track is v connected to each bracket at two points in llear relation to each other, by which arrangement a ri id connection is made to each bracket, t ereby preventing any twisting strain upon the brackets during the time the door is traveling back and forth upon the track l. Anothery object desired is that no pivotal movement takes place between'the `points of attachment of the track to therackets brought about by any sag ing of the track between the points of attac ent. By providing two tangs-for each bracket and spacing the tangs a shoulder l() is provided, which shoulder abuts against the face of the track between` the apertures 9, thereby assisting in preventing any swinging movement of the outer ends of the flanges 5, by which arrangement there can be no overdue push or pull upon the attaching-ilanges of the brackets, thereby removing the push-andpull strain from the attaching-screws 4.
In use vthe tangs 8 are passed through the apertures 9 and the extended ends of said tangs swaged, as illustrated in Fig. 5.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim asnew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is---v g As an improved article of manufacture, a track and bracket provided with an attachling-flange and an arm or angle portion extended therefrom and provided with spaced tangs and having a track-contact shoulder vformed upon the arm portion of the bracket and located between the spaced tangs, and a track provided with spaced apertures correspondmg in size and shape with the sizel and s ape of the spaced tangs, and the spaced tan s located through the spaced apertures in t e track and the track seated against the shoulder of the bracket-arm and in close contact therewith, substantially as and for GEORGE A.
