IMPROVED COMPOUND FOR ROOFING.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, H. M. TEASDALE, of Dansville, in the county of Liv'ingston, and State of New York, have invented a. certain new and useful Compound for Roofing; ,and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and substantial compound for covering the roofs of houses,
and to thisend my composition consists of the following ingredients, when mixed as below described, which are as follows: I i
I take six (6) gallons of coal-tar, one hundred v(100) pounds of sand, twenty (20) pounds of wood-or coalashes, five (5) pounds of plaster of Paris, two and one-half pounds of white lead, and two and one-half (2%) l of salt, to cover afr'oof consisting of about one hundred square feet. After the mixing of the ingredients above described, I then apply the compound in the ordinary way.
The advantziges which I'claim in the use of my compound are, first, its imperviousness to moisture; second, its resistance to hot, cold, or damp weather; and, finally, it will not discolor or otherwise damage the rein-water when appropriated for use, and is also fire-proof. 4 r i l 'What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is V p The combination of the within-specified ingredients, when compounded in or about the proportions described,
