Description

No. 797,829. PATENTED AUG. 22, 1905.

APPLICATION FILED JAN-21,1905.
[/VVENTOR W MVW PATENT OFFICE.
BATH-TUB,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 22, 1905.
Application filed January 21, 1905. Serial No. 242,123.
To all Hill/0772, if; 'n't/ty concern/.-
Be it known that I, HENRY M. WEAVER, a resident of Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Tubs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improved bathtub and more particularly the construction of improved overflow and outlet therefrom, the object of the invention being to provide improvements of this character of simple inexpensive construction which permit of the assembling of parts before being shipped to the trade; and the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
in the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view, partly in longitudinal section, illustrating my improvements; and Fig. 2 is an end View.
1 represents an enameled cast-metal tub cast with a core forming an opening or duct 2, ex tending from below the outlet 3 to the end of the tub, and 1 represents the outlet-pipe, which projects across said duct 2 and is made with openings or slots 5, communicating with the duct. The outer end of the duct is enlarged and internally screw-threaded to receive a coupling or fitting 6, and the latter is connected by a vertical pipe 7 beside the end of the tub with a fitting or coupling 8. This coupling or fitting 8 is screwed onto a ring 9, fitting in the overflow'opening 10, and has a perforated cover or screen 11 on its inner end inside the tub and is made with an annular flange 12 to hold the same in place and tightly clamp the tub end between said flange and the coupling 8. By thus constructing the tub the parts above described can all be assembled at the factory and the tub shipped ready to be set and all danger of improper assemblage obviated.
A great many slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of the parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I would have it under stood that I do not restrict myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. A cast-metal tub having an outlet in its bottom and cored from said outlet to the end of the tub for the attachment of the overflowpipe. 7
2. A cast-metal tub having an outlet in its bottom and cored from said outlet to the end of the tub, a screened overflow located in the end of the tub, and a pipe connecting the overflow with said cored portion.
3. A cast-metal tub having an outlet in its bottom and cored forming a duct extending across the outlet and to the end of the tub, an outlet-pipe projecting across said duct, communicating with the outlet and having slots or openings in said duct, and an overflow-pipe connecting the overflow-opening in the tub with said duct.
4. A cast-metal tub having an outlet in its bottom, and cored forming a duct extending across the outlet and to the end of the tub, an outlet-pipe projecting across said duct, communicating with the outlet, and having slots or openings in said duct, a screened ring located in the overflow-opening in the end of the tub, and an overflow-phpe connecting said ring with the duct.
in testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY M. WVEAVER.
Witnesses 7 WM. MOE. WnLnoN, lViARGARET DRAKE.
