SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 794,414, dated July 11, 1905.

To all whom it may concern:

.Be it known that 1, JOHN F. K EPP, a citizen 7 of the United States, residing at New Kensington, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Poles and Ourtain-Fasteners; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable IO others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

5 This invention relates to an improved combined curtain-pole and curtain-fastener; and it consists in forming the said pole with two grooves, the one opposite to the other and eX- tending in the direction of its length, whereby one or more clamp members may be engaged with said grooves to attach the curtains to the pole, together with the certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinafter.

5 In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved pole and fasteners, a part of which is broken away, the said view being constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention. suitable length and curved in cross-section to correspond to the curvature of the pole 1. The edges of these clamp members4 are curled 5 inwardly, as at 7, about a wire 8, the said wires serving the double purpose of aiding in the forming of the said portions and to strengthen, maintain, and protect the same.

In operation the curtains 9 are placed across the pole 1, covering the two grooves 5 and adjusted accurately in position, the clamp members 4 being removed from said pole. The clamp members 4 are now placed on the top of the curtain 9 in a position relative to the two grooves 5, the edges 7 being immediately above the overhanging portions 6. By applying pressure to the clamp member the same is forced downward and sprung into position, the curled edges 7 engaging with the 5 projections 6, thereby locking the clamp and curtain to the pole. To remove the clamp and release the curtain, it is only necessary to disengage the cap 2 from the end of the pole and draw the said clamp endwise, the 7 same moving freely in that direction.

If it is desired, but one clamp may be used to attach the two curtains to the pole, in which case the said clamp would almost equal the length of the same; but I prefer to use two or more, according to the number of curtains and the length of the pole.

Various slight modifications and changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention. Therefore I do not wish to confine myself to the exact construction shown and described, but wish to claim all such modifications as would come properly within the general scope of the invention. 0
