ZBe it known that I, D. C. MoNnzn, of Osceola, in the county of St. Clair, invented anew andimprovedlnk; and I dohereby. declare that the following is a non thereof, which will enable those'skilled in the art to make and use the shin -I This invention relates to snow and improved inl-r', whereby the ink, when used on paper, is invisible, no writing or marks appearing until thepaper is exposed-to the fire, when the ink or writing immediately appears and shows as black-ink writing} or, it first put intowater, and not held to ithe fir the writing will appear. after which the fire will have no efi'ect upon it,ibut the writing will disappear when the paper is dried, and will again appear when wetted,-as at first, and as oftenas desired, by drying and wetting. i

And the invention consists in composing the ink so as to produce this effect, and in theuse of the following ingredients, viz:. i

Aes'dum rulpl uricum, 0P5 i. Aqua distillata, 5 iii;

Saccharum purum, Sss. This composition should be used with a quill-pen, and will be found invaluable in transmitting secrets, in I time of war especially, as descriptions of forts, movements of troops, &c., may be transmitted without fear of discovery, as when the paper and ink are dry the paper appears perfectly blankl.
