A The cutter C is provided with a cutting-edgmf, for cutting oil' the pipe, and o. series of cutters, marked e, which aroused for cutting ofthe burror swell'on the pipe, caused' by the cutting-edgcf. The griping edge of the tongue or-clamp C should bc provided Awith `fine 'teeth or corx'ugations,` so that it will rcadily grasp the 'pipe' placed in thc jaw A.

I will therefore proceed to describe the operntiou'of my improvement. In cutting oi` gas or other pipes, the cutter C is placed in the jaw A, and the pipe is placed between the cutter and jaw, the cutter is pressed against the pipe, and then, by drawing the lover B, the cutting-edgefwill beforced into'and out the pipe in proportion to'the vdraughton the lever B, and the burr or swell formed on the pipe by' the action ofthe cuttingfedgef will be cut oiiby the cutters e, thereby keeping the end oi' the pipev tothe desired diameter.' convert the instrument into a pipe-wrenchby removing the cutter C, and putting in its place thejongneor clamp C. The pipeis placed between the tongue or clamp, and by drawing the lever" B, .the tongue or `clump will grasp the .pipe iny pro-portion to the draught on the lover.

The advantages of my improvement consist in being` enabled, by the use of one instrument, to cut, trim olf, and wrench pipes of diierentdiameters..

I wish it clearly understood that I do not claim broadly an cceeutric-cutter or clamp in pipe-cutters or wrenches. l

Having thus described the nature, construction, and operation of my improvement, what I claim as ofv my A pipewrench and cutter combined iu one instrument, constructed, arranged, and operating substantially as 'herein described, and for the purpose set forth. v I
