@te rlnttle mmh tu it tlgesetrttfratmt animating part at tigt sane.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERNz- Be it known that I, JOSEPH SMALLWOD, of St. ilohn, 'in the Provinoeof New Brunswick, British North America, have invented a newand improved Pocket Cooking-Stove; and I do hereby declare thatthe following is a full, clear, and elxact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in theart to make and use the v same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in portable stoves for workmen and others, whereby'tbey are enabled to heat their coffee or tea, and warm their dinners, when laboring in the iield or woods.
vAnd it consists in the arrangement of a boiler and furnace, which may be folded or slipped together, as
will behereinafter more fully described.
Figure l is a plan view.
Figure 2 is a view of the'furnace and the boiler, and theparts connected therewith, folded together in compact forin, for transportation or the pocket. i
Figure 3 represents the furnace and boiler united, as when' arranged for use.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. Y l
This stove may be made in any convenient form, and consists of two parts, the furnace A and boiler B, with the cup and spirit-reservoir.
C is a lamp, which is 'placed in the furnace or fire-box A.
lIn iig. 2, the lamp is seen packed away in a cup, D, which goes with the stove.
E is a spirit-reservoir, for furnishing the lamp and iire-box`with fuel.
' f represents orices through the wall of the furnace, for the ingress of air, and
g represents orifices for the escape of .the smoke .and heated gases.
When in use, the boiler Bfis dropped down into the top of Ythe furnace, as seen in iig. 3,
When the stove is being transported or carried from place to place,` the boiler B (which is made somewhat tapering for the prpose) is turned bottom side up, and slipped into the furnace, forming a telescopic joint, as
seen in iig; 2, thus rednc'ing. the size of thel article about one-half, and suiiiciently-to allow it to be placed in the pocket. i
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Y The furnaceQor part A, and the boiler or part B, when constructed so that they will slide or fold together, as seen in iig. 2, and when used for thepurposes set forth, or in combination with a lamp, substantially as described. v, Y v The above specification of my invention signed by me, this 13th day of April, 1868.
