PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB SALATHEAND JOHN TAMBERLIN, OF PHCENIXVILLE, PENN- SYLVANIA.
WINDING-SPOOL SPINDLE AND BEARING THEREFOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 790,526, dated May 23, 1905. Original application filed 1p1il29, 1904, Serial No., 205,527. Divided and this application filed August 16, 1904. Serial No. 220,891.
To all whom, t may concern:
Be it known that we, JACOB SALATHE and JOHN TAMBERLIN, citizens of theUnited States, residing in Phoenixville, county of Chester, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Winding- Spool Spindles and Bearings Therefor, of
vwhich the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to spinning-machines, and particularly to the improved construction of spool-spindle and bearing therefor hereinafter fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing, and the novel features of which are specifically pointed out in the claim.
The drawing is a vertical section of our improved winding-'spool spindle and bearing,
showing the same mounted upon the usual more fully described in our pending application referred to. This pulley-sleeve6 loosely incloses the bolster-case 10 and is carried upon the step-bearing 11l within the latter by means of the concentric tubular spindle 12, forming part thereof and extending into the bore of the bolster-case, in which it is centered by a bottom collar 13, bearing upon a suitable step-bearing washer or seat 14 and by an upper collar 15. A central tubular bolster 16 within the bolster-case 10 rises loosely through the spindle 12 with its pulley-sleeve 6 and provides a passage-way for the central carrier rod 17, upon which is carried the guide-ring to which the required up-anddown movement is transmitted by'means of a cam or other suitable means. The bolstercase 10 is firmly secured to the spindle-rail 20 of the machine by means of a nut 21 upon its lower end, with a distance sleeve and washer 23 strung thereupon between said nut and the bottom of the spindle-rail to provide for carrying the delivery-spools upon radius-arms 24 24, pivoted upon said distance-sleeve, as described in said pending application. The bolster-case 10 thus forms an annular oil-receptacle, in which the tubular spindle 12, with its collars 13 and 15, is retained in vertical position while being rotated upon the stepbearing washer 14, with an annular wall of oil both inside and outside of said tubular spindle, thus providing a very satisfactorilysupported and thoroughly-lubricated spindlemounting.
What we claim is- A spindle mechanism comprising a tubular bolster-case 10 having a central bolster 16 therein, a tubular spindle 12 inclosing said bolster without contacting therewith, and having top and bottom collars centering the same in said bolster-case and an annular seat in the latter, and a concentric pulley-sleeve forming a rigid portion of said tubular spindle substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof we afliX our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
JACOB. SALATHE. JOHN TAMBERLIN.
