To ALL WHOM IT nnveonennn:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL HULBEnT, of the village of Ogdensburg, in the county of St. Lawrence, State of New York, have invented a new and improved Mode of Fastening the Agricultural Plough together with out bolts by a dove-tail lock and key; and I hereby declare that the following is a full and exact descriptionthcreoi", reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents the land-side, showing a cavity to receive the flange of the mould-board at a.
Figure 2 represents a section of the land-side, showing at 6 the cavity and the flange which forms-the tenon of-the dove-tail. v i s Figure 3 represents a section of the mould-board and its flange at the left, with a hook at the right forming the dove-tail,as shown a t'c.
Figure 4 represents the section of the land-side and the section of the mould-hoard put together, showing a vacancy ready to receive the key at (Z. I
Figure 5 represents the lower portion of the land-side, where the plough-point goes on it, having a hole through which the hook of the plough-point passes, and a hook on the land-side, showing a vacancy for the key at c.
Figure 6 represents the plough-point in a manner showing its hook atf. Figure 7 represents the land-side and plough-point put together, the hook passed through the hole in the land-side leaving a place for the key at g. r Figure-8 represents the plough entire, with the brace-rod across from the land-side -to the flat loop on the inside of the mould-board, the brace-rod having screw-nuts, so that the plough may be made wider or narrower at pleasure. This rod also holdsthe handles, as shown at it.
Figure 9 represents the working-side of the plough, the mould-hoard, and point, without any bolt-head's,
I having a uniform smooth surface, its surface being straight lines longitudinal on the transverse straight lines,
,fornlingian angle of about fifty degrees throughout with the longitudinal.
The same kind of dove-tail lock and key is used for the double-mould plon'gltend single cultivator, only the standard has a slot-hole through the centre to receive the two flanges where the mould-hoards eometogether, and the cultivator sides are so constructed that they can be used when the mould-boards are taken off, the same point, standard beam, and handles answering for either. i
Figure 10 represents a section of the standard for thetlouhle-inould plough, the slot-hole represented at Figure 11 represents thernould-hoard placed on the standard, their flanges through the slot-hole atj ready to receive the key at 7c is.
Figure 12 represents the inside of a rnonld-hoard with its flange at Z, its hooks at m m, it loops at 72, n.
Figure 13 represents one of theeultivatersides, so constructed as to go on the double mould-board plough,
when the mould-hoards are taken oil, and made so as to cut the weeds in a sliding manner at-o. They are used,
also, for digging potatoes.
I claim the improved manner of fastening the plough and cultivator lIOgCtl lClQ-SOPtlltltClY and connectedly, I in manner and for the purposes as herein described and constructed SAMUEL HULBERT. Witnesses:
FRANK R. J unsolv, ELIJAH WHITE.
