PATENT OEEIQE.
LEON SARR, OF CEYLON, OHIO.
BAG-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 782,179, dated February '7, 1905.
Application filed July 19, 1902. Renewed January 4, 1.905. Serial No. 239,657.
To (t/Z (viz/0m 7'1 nmy concern:
Be it known that 1, LEON SARR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ceylon, in the county of Erie and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to bag-holders; and the object of the same is to provide a simple and inexpensive device which can be attached to any fixed or movable object-such as a door. wall, truck, or adjustable supportand will hold the bag distended in a position convenient for filling the same and when not in use it may be dropped out of the way.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same. as will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claim.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is an end view of the holder in a position to receive the bag to be filled. Fig. 2 is a front View of the same with the distending-loop in section. Fig. 3 is a top view of the holder with distending-loop and clamping-loop in a position for receiving the bag. Fig. at is a front view of the device when not in use. Fig. 5 is an end view of the same when not in use.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the different views.
The lugs A and A are made so as to be attachable to any object in any manner that the operator may elect. These lugs are provided with hooks A" for holding the rear part of the bag and also with the supporting-lugs A, in which are notches A" for holding the distending-loop and clamping-loop in position. in lug A is fastened a rod C, which passes across and through the lug A and extends a short distance beyond it. The rod C is enlarged at the projecting end, by which means the distendingdoo D is kept from sliding off said rod. The distending-loop D is a semicircular piece which is pivoted loosely on the rod C, so as to permit of free lateral movement on said rod. At the point D on the distending-loop D is pivoted a clamping-loop E, which has the same general shape as the distending-loop and closely fitting the same. At the front of the holder the piece forming the clamping-loop E is provided with a small handle E, by which the clamping-loop is raised and lowered.
Normally the device hangs as shown in Figs. 4: and To use the bag-holder. the clamping-loop E and the distcnding-loop D are raised high enough to be shifted on rod (1 toward-lug A and lowered into notches A in the supporting-lugs A, which securely holds the distending-loop and the clamping-loop in a position to receive the bag. The clampingloop E is then raised and one side of the bag is stretched on the hooks A, while the other side of the bag is brought up and over the distcnding-loop D. The clamping-loop E is then brought down over the bag and distending-loop D, thus securely holding the bag in the desired distended position. To detach the bag, the clamping-loop E is raised by the handle E and the bag is then easily taken off the hooks A and from the holder.
This device as above described is attachable to any kind of an adjustable support, as shown in Figs. 4 and The lugs A and A may be attached to a supporting-piece H, which is arranged to be adjustable in a tubular piece G and is held at any desired height by a thumbscrew K. 1 do not wish to confine myself to this form of adjustable support, as it is plainly evident that the device may be adjustably supported in several different ways.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent" In a bag-holder, lugs suitably supported, said lugs carrying simporting-lugs and having hooks, a rod attached to the lugs, a loop having its ends pivoted and slidable on the rod whereby the loop may be moved into and out of engagement with the supporting-lugs, and a clamping loop pivoted to the firstnamed loop, substantially as described.
