whereby the spring and nose-guard oi' eyeglasses can be securely connected to the lens, and has for its object a'construction wherein the clamping members are connected by a wall or strip integral with such members and one of the members is provided with an extension so shaped as to form a pocket for the recep` tion of the end ofthe spring and an ear onv the nose-guard. l A.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specication, Figure 1 is an elevation oi' the lenses of an eyeglass, showing the end of the spring and lugs on the-noseguard connected by my improved clamp to the lens. Figs. 2 to 8, inclusive, are similar views illustrating modilications of the clamp.
In the practice of my invention the clamp consists of two legs or clamping members 1 and 2, one or both of which may be provided at their outer ends with suitable projections 3, whereby they may be caused to engage the lens of the eyeglass. The outer ends of the legs or members 1 and 2 are connected by a wall integral with such members. The lensgrip proper, consisting ofthe members 1 and 2 and the connecting-wall 4, is provided with an extension 5, which is provided with a lug 6. As shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 5, the extension may be arranged at right angles to the wall 4 and the lug 6 parallel or approximately parallel with the wall 4. By this construction a pocket is formed for the reception of one end of the spring 7 and the ear 8 on the nose-guard 9. The legs or members 1 and 2 are drawn toward each other, so as to grip the lens by means of a screw 10, passing through one of the members and screwing into the other member. 'The walls of the pocket formed in part by the lug 6 are drawn together, so as to grip the spring and ear on the nose-guard by means g down, so that the pocket will be at the corner ofthe lens grip or clamp. In lthis construction the lip 12 has an angular extension b,

In lieu of arranging the extension 5 in line with, themember'as shown in Figs. 2, 3, 4,
and 5, it may be bent to angle with the member 2', as shown in Figs. 6, 7, and 8. In this construction the extension 5 may, have its outer portion a bent at right angles to the body of the extension, thereby bringing the lug 6 parallel with the extension and the lip 12 parallel with the portion (t. In this construction also the pocket for the spring and ear on the nose-guard is arranged at the corner of the clamp proper. To form a closed pocket, the lug 6 is provided with a lip 12, as heretofore described. I claim herein as my invention- 1.
