Be it known that we, GHARLns O. GLAsooox and JOHN W. GLAsoooK, citizens of the United States, residing at Muncie, in the county of Delaware and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Ghilds Carriage, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates more particularly to childrens carriages or go-carts made up of different members which may be employed for different purposes. In the embodiment set forth in this application a combined baby-jumper and adjustable chair member is employed in connection with a truck member, the members being detachably associated, so that the chair or jumper may be employed separately from the truck, or said members may be combined to form a childs carriage or go-cart that will safely hold a baby or small child.

The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings and is described in the following specification; but an inspection of the claims hereto appended will show that the structure set forth is open to various changes and modifications.

WVhile any desired form of chair member may be used, that shown and preferably employed is covered by Letters Patent granted to us on October 11, 1898, and numbered 612,38i No claim is therefore made to the chair member, per 86, nor is any particularlyextended description thereof believed to be necessary. Broadly stated, therefore, the chair member comprises suitable standards 10, carrying rockers 11- at their lower ends, an intermediate seat 12, and upper arms 13, the

front and rear standards being respectively connected by suitable rounds 14. Hangerbars 15 are secured to opposite sides of the seat and upper arms 13 and are connected by a cross-bar 16, which is designed to be attached to suitable supporting-springs, (indicatedat 17,) whereby the structure may be employed as a baby-jumper. The structure as thus far described forms a rigid frame, and to this frame is pivoted a back 18 and a foot basket 19, said back and basket being connected by links 20, and the back being held in adjusted position by means of suitable arms 21.

The truck member comprises a frame supported upon wheels. This frame consists of spaced side bars 22, the rear ends of which are extended and upturned to form handlebars 23, the handle and side bars being connected by braces 24. Axles 25 are arranged across the side bars and project beyond the same, these axles being fitted in seats 26, formed in boxings 27, secured to the under sides of said side bars. Upon the projecting ends of the axles are mounted suitable Wheels 28, which are preferably, though not necessarily, provided with rubber tires 29. Upon the upper faces of the side bars are secured spring-clips 30 and 31. The spring-clips 30 are substantially \J-shaped and are fastened upon the front ends of the side bars, the fastening means being in the form of bolts 32, that pass through the front axle, the boxings 27, the side bars, and the clips, as illustrated in Fig. l. The clips 31 are secured upon the rear portions of the side bars and have upwardly-curved offset portions that are located over the braces 24. The mouths of these various clips open in the same direction, preferably toward the rear of the truck, and the mouths formed between the free ends of the clips 31 and the braces are preferably contracted, as illustrated in Fig. 2.

It will be observed that it is the stationary frame of the chair member that is attached to the truck, so that the adjustment of the back and foot basket is not in any manner interfered with. As shown in Fig. 2, the front round engages the front ends of the clips, while the rear round, though past the contracted mouths, still rests upon the inclined braces. The result is that the weight upon said rear round acting upon an inclined plane will serve to force the chair member forwardinto the clips, and a tight lock is thereby assured without any rattling or loose connection. To detach the members, it is only necessary to move the chair member rearwardly, whereupon the rounds will disengage from the clips. The structure, therefore, is a very important combination in that it permits the use of an adjustable childs chair as a carriage or go-cart.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction, operation, and many advantages of the herein-described invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without further description, and it will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A truck member, including a frame having spring-clips with contracted mouths, in combination with a chair member having elements that are arranged to be passed through the contracted mouths and engage under the clips, said clips yielding to permit the passage of the elements.

2. A truck member, including a frame having spring-clips provided with contracted mouths that open in the same direction, in combination with a chair member having elements that are arranged to be passed through the contracted mouths of and engage under the clips, said clips yielding to permit the passage of the elements.

3. A truck member, including a frame having handles at its rear end, and clips carried by the frame and having months that open toward the handles, in combination with a chair member having rounds that engage under the clips and are capable of being passed through the rearwardly-opening mouths.

A. The combination with a truck member, of a chair member, spring-clips carried by one member and having contracted mouths opening in the same direction, and means carried by the other member and arranged to pass through the mouths and engage under the clips.

5. A truck member, including a frame, a

plurality of spring-clips secured to the upper face of the frame and having mouths opening in the same direction, in combination with a chair having rounds arranged to detachably engage under the spring-clips.

6. A truck member, including a frame, a plurality of spring-clips secured to the upper face of the frame and having open mouths, certain of said mouths being contracted, in combination with an adjustable chair member having rounds arranged to detachably engage under the spring-clips.

7. The combination with a frame, including a side bar, of a bowed spring-clip having spaced sides, one of said sides being secured to the side bar the other side being free, and a chair member including an element that is arranged to lit between the free and secured sides of the clip and be secured thereby to the side bar.

8. The combination with a frame, including a side bar, of a bowed spring-clip having one side secured to the side bar, the terminal portions of said clip forming a mouth between them and a chair member including an element that is arranged to pass through the mouth and engage between the sides of the clip.

9. A truck member, including a frame having side bars, handles carried by the side bars, braces connecting the handles and side bars, spring-clips mounted on the side bars and hav ing their free ends located contiguous to the braces, and a seat member detachably engaging the clips.

10. A truck member comprising a frame having side bars, axles extending across and secured to the side bars, wheels journaled upon the axles, spring-clips mounted on the upper faces of the side bars, and a chair member comprising a frame having transverse rounds that extend completely across the same and detachably engage under the clips, said rounds passing across and resting upon the said bars and a seat adjustably mounted on the frame.

11. A truck member including longitudinally-disposed side rails, handles located at one end of the truck member, axles extending transversely of the side rails, and wheels journaled upon the ends of the axles, in combina tion with a chair member having rockers that are disposed longitudinally of the side rails and transversely of the axles, transversely-disposed rounds connecting the roekers, and means carried by the truck member and de tachably engaging the rounds of the chair member to secure the same upon the truck member, the handles of said truck member constituting handles for the entire device when in assembled condition.

12. A truck member, in combination with a chair member comprisinga frame having rockers and transverse rounds, a seat and back ad.- justably mounted on the frame, and means carried by the truck member and detachably ICC engaging the rounds for securing the chair member upon said truck member, whereby the adjustment of the seat and back is not interfered with.

13. The combination with a frame including a side bar, of a spring-clip having one terminal secured to the side bar and having its other terminal spaced from said bar, and a chair member having an element that detachably engages between the clip and side bar, being thereby secured to the latter.

14. The combination with a truck member, including a side bar, of a spring-clip having one terminal secured to the side bar and its other terminal curved upwardly and spaced from said side bar, and a chair member having a round that detachably engages between
