' Figure 1 is a perspectiye View showing two panels secured hy my fastening.
Figure 2 is atop View of the sana/e.-
Figures 3 andirre enlarged horizontal sections of a. joint, showing the mode of applying Inyhooks land key respectively.
Figure 5 is a horizo'ntalsection of it corner.
Figures 6, '7,4 and 8, 4represent modifications of my fastening. t
A A represent two contiguous panels sottogether atan obtuse .'Ingle.` B. Bgare two lS-foI-'liled hooks, which being slipped throughbetween the hattens (C/have their curvedextremities engaged around the edges vofthe bnttens,'as' shown in iig, The saidl'hooks having been thus inserted; are made permanently secure, and at'the same time the panels are retained'im'movably in their proper zigzag position, by the insertion froxiu above of a key, D, whose taper corresponds to the anglefoi' the-panels, and which khas a. head, d', to prevent itsesc'ape endwise.v In practice, Ins-e foursuch'hooks, and tn'osuch keys at each'joint, :is clearly shown in fig. 1.
' When itis desired to unite two panels c olnerwise of at rightnnglcs, I use a piece of wire, -which I call the T, (see E, fig. 5,) which being bont nt its middle s'o as to form a small circle, and thencebeing'contiguous and parallel, I` insert 'the ltwo ends through bothposts, and curve the samevinto the form of the two vopposite hooks ee, which engage around two of the batterie, in the manner shown in iig. 5. Figs. 6, 7,V and 8, exhibit vinferior modifications of 'my hooking-devices, and Figure 9'shown-modification of my key, inwhich'barhs tt;
perform the duty of the headd.- A still inferior modification may have a plninpwooden key or wedge, in cornbination with my hooks of either form, and it is also obvious that I can entirelyvclispense with keys, for the panels being carefully-chatted, the several parts are securelyheld in position.
The key when ofmy improved form, whether bai-heil4 or headed, is preferahlyinserted from the top'or bottoni', and drivcnsdewisc down Orjupxthejoint, as thefcase i'nay be.
