Be it known that I, RALPH W. ALLsUr, a citizen 'of the UnitedStates, residing at New London, in the county of Henry and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvespecification. y
My invention relates tovimprovements'inv gates, more especially the horizontally-swinging type.-
It has for its object to simplify construcfacility and convenience in the hanging of the same. A
It consists of certain structural features, as well as the combination and arrangement of parts, substantially as hereinafter more fully disclosed, and particularly pointed out bythe claims.

In the carrying out of my invention I construct the gate generally of longitudinal slats l, which may be light and spaced short intervals apart and secured in proper relative position'by parallel transverse bars 2 and 2L 2l), also by duplicate parallel bars or braces 3 ex tending from and between diagonally opposite corners of -the gate, the bars 2 being secured in duplicate laterally at the forward end and at aboutthe mid-length of said gate, respectively, as presently fully disclosed. Said bars 2, both at the forward end of the gate and at its mid-length, are of right-angled construction in cross-section, the inner arms of each pair of opposed bars are united and bolted to the respective gate-slats by common bolts and nuts 4, while the other or outstanding arms of saidbars serve to brace and give rigidity to the inner arms, accordingly brac- Serial. It will be noted that the lateral rear-edge extension 2X of the bar 2b is thus by the application of the hinge members 6 6u to the bars 2u 2b, as abovev described, caused to form the inner end walls of the openings of the yokes 6 6". Also arranged within each yoke 6 are a removable Lshaped filling-in block 7 and a correspondingly-shaped bearing-block 7, having a concaved or curved surface presented toward or facing the like surface of said yoke, said bearing-block and the latter thus forming an eye for the reception of the pintle member of the hinge, as above noted. y By having the illing-in blocks and the bearing-blocks I shape, flanges are furnished thereon at their upper and lower ends. as at 7b, projecting beyond the upper and lower edges of the yoke 61 to effect the holding of said blocks in proper position in the latter without the use of separate securing means, as would otherwise be required.
