SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 771,591, dated October 4, 1904.

To all wh m it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES W. VAN VVAG- NER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Englewood, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Souvenir Postal Cards, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to souvenir postal cards or mailing sheets or strips; and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class which comprises an oblong strip divided by score or folding lines into separate sections, one side of one end section serving as the address side of a postal or mailing card and theopposite side of the other end section as the message side of a postal or mailing card. the intermediate sections being provided with stere opticon or other views or pictures and the separate end sections being provided with gummed flaps, whereby when the strip is folded along the division-lines of the separate sections the separate folds may be sealed together.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a face view of one side of my improved postal or mailing strip; Fig. 2, a similar view of the other side thereof; Fig. 3, an edge view showing the strip folded and in condition for sealing; and Fig. 4:, a View similar to Fig. 3, showing the strip sealed.

In the practice of my invention I provide a mailing card or strip a, divided at regular intervals by transverse score or folding lines, as shown at (f, into separate sections (0 on each of which and preferably on both sides of which are picture-spaces o This mailing card or strip is designed particularly for use in connection with stereoptic'on views, which may be printed directly onto the strip or pasted thereto; but any kind or class of pictures or photographs may be printed or pasted on the separate sections (6 either on one or both sides thereof. One side of one of the end sections a is intended as the address side of the card or strip, while the opposite side of the other end section a is intended as the message side, and any desired message may be written thereon. Each of the end sections is also provided with a folding strip a", gummed on one side, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and in preparing the card or strip for mailing it will be folded along the lines a to form separate folds a, as shown in Fig. 3, and the separate folds or parts are pressed together and the flaps a are then folded over the ends of the separate folds a, and said ends are pressed together and the flaps a are sealed to the opposite sides of the end folds or members a, as clearly shown in Fig. 4. That side of one of the end sections a which is-intended as the address side is also provided with a stamp-space a in the usual manner, and it will be apparent that the strip a may be made of any desired length and of any preferred material, and in this way a large number of pictures, together with any desired message, may be conveniently sent through the mails in a compact and safe form.

Although I have shown and described the end sections (f, or one side thereof, as designed for use for writing the address and message thereon, it will be apparent that the opposite sides of the said end section may also have pictures printed on or pasted thereon, and this is the form of construction shown in the drawlugs.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is'

1. A mailing-card, comprising an oblong strip of flexible material divided at regular intervals by score or folding lines into separate sections, one side of one end section serving as the address side and the opposite side of the other end section as the message side, and both of the end sections being provided with a flap gummed on one side, substantially as shown and described.

2. A mailing-card, comprising an oblong strip of flexible material divided at regular intervals by score or folding lines into separate sections, one side of one end section serving as the address side and the opposite side of the other end section as the message side, and

both of the end sections being provided with a flap gummed on one side, the separate sections between the end sections being adapted to bear pictures, substantially as shown and described.

3. A mailing-card, comprising an oblong strip of flexible material divided at regular intervals by score or folding lines into separate sections, one side of one end section serving as the address side and the opposite side of the other end section as the message side, and both of the end sections being provided with a flap gummed on one side, the separate sections between the end sections being adapted to bear pictures, and the end sections being also adapted on one side to bear pictures, substantially as shown and described.

4. A mailing-card, comprising an oblong strip of flexible material divided at regular intervals by score or folding lines into separate sections, one side of one end section serving as the address side and the opposite side of the other end section as the message side, said strip being adapted to be folded on the score or folding lines, and means for securing the separate folds together, substantially as shown and described.
