SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 768,075, dated August 23, 1904.

Be it known that I, GEORGE PURUCKER, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at McKees Rocks, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and vuseful Improvement in Wrenches, of which improvement the following is a specification.
My invention relates to Wrenches; and its object is to provide a Wrench ofrgreat simplicity and ease of adjustment.
My invention consists of certain novel .combinations of parts and arrangements of details hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings vlike characters refer to like parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a side view of my device. Eig. 2 is a longitudinal section through my device, showing the movable jaw locked in place.
The numeral 1 indicates the blade of my device, to which is attached a fixed jaw 2. The blade 1v extends intoa hollow handle 3 and is attached thereto by any desired means.
At 4 is shown a movable jaw held to slide on the blade 1 by a clamp 5 and provided with an inclined extension 6, having a milled or finely-toothed face 8. In suitable bearings 9 is held a' cam 10, having a milled face 11 to correspond with the milled face 8. A thumbpiece 12 extends from said cam in a convenient position to rotate the same. A spring 13 normally causes the cam to contact with the face 8 and prevent motion thereof,v and from this the cam may be rotated by the thumbsalaire. 176,616. I(No model.)
In a wrench, a blade, a lixedhead attached y thereto, a hollow handle attached to said blade, a movable head sliding on said bladean inclined extension formed on said head extending along said blade into said hollow handle, a milled face on said extension, a milled-face cam held above the said extension to contact with the same and lock the movable jaw, a spring normally holding said cam in contact with said extension and a thumb-piece on said cam to release the same, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
