Description

No. 763,910. PATENTED JUNE 28, 1904. P. KRUMSOHEID.
PIANOFORTE ACTION.
APPLIUATION FILED DB0. 1. 1903. No Holm..
Patented June 28, 1904.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER KRUMSOHEID, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
PIANOFORTE-ACTION.
SPECIFICATION forming part Letters Patent No. 763,910, dated June 28, 1904.
Application tiled December l, 1903. Serial No. 183,405. (No model.)
To all whom, t muy concern:
Be it known that I, PETER KRUMSCHEID, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pianoforte-Actions, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.
My invention relates to the parts of a pianoforte that support the action, for convenience these parts being termed the brackets; and it consists in the peculiar manner in which the upper ends of the brackets are constructed and also in the forming of the screw-bolts that connect the upper ends of the bracket to the pin-block.
The object is to make a simple and cheap device by which the action may be .readily attached and detached. This object I attain by means of the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of one of the brackets, the lower part being omitted. Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing the upper end of the bracket and a part of the screw-bolt that connects to the pin-block.
In the drawings, A Al A2 represent the bracket, to the middle part of which the hammer-rail B is attached. The lower end of the bracket (not shown) is attached to the frame of the pianoforte in the usual manner.
I will now describe the parts that I consider new and of my invention.
The upper end of the bracket has a recess at C, which receives the coned end D of the screw-bolt E F. The bolt is fiatted, as indicated at E, for the double purpose of forming a convenient grip for the Wrench by which the bolt is screwed into the pin-block H and also to form shoulders for engagement with the crown-cam head M of the turn-bolt L. The outer end of the turn-bolt L is made square and is riveted into the finger-knob N, as shown in Fig. 2. A washer W of some yielding material is used for facilitating the use of the crown-cam M in drawing the upper end of the bracket firmly against the coned head D of the screw-bolt, and thus prevent any looseness or tendency to rattle.
I claim- A pianoforte actionholding device comprising; a screw-bolt latted and having a shoulder as described; a crown-cam and means for turning said cam; a bracket adapted to engage with said screw-bolt and having attached the said means for operating said crown-cam; substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, on this 30th day of November, A. D. 1903.
PETER KRUMSOHEID.
