To WHoM rr MAY Concerns:
Know all men that IHENR.Y P. CROSE, of Hartland, in the county of Livingston, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Clothes-Drying Apparatus; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification.
The nature o f this invention consists in constructinplgfv an apparatusfor drying clothes upon, so that the opera-tor .may tilt it as occasion may require, for the purpose of bringingall parts of the apparatus withinl reach, that will revolve upon its centre, and that can readily be detached freni its support, folded up, and easily transported. i
In order to accomplish this end, use the stationary post A, supporting the vibrating post B, which'vibrates upon the pin C, and may be secured at any desired angle by the pin D,4wedge E, and strap F, which will admit ofthe vibration of the apparatus, and secure it at any angle desired, for the purpose of facilitating its manipulation while clothes are being hung upon it. Upon and near the top ofthe post B is the sleeved collar Gr, which is secured from sliding upon said post by any proper device, in such a manner as to allow the collar to rotate freely. At or near its periphery are hung, by proper `joints, the suspension-arms H, which are jointed at their other ends to or near the centre of stay-arms I; which stay-arms are hinged orijointed to a sliding collar, K, by means of which a reciprocating motion is gained, which will contract or expand the area or spaceoccupied by the arms I. J are lines attached to the arms I by any proper fastenings which will hold the lines in place. E is a pin, passing through the post B, below the collar K, to hold it in place where it is required.
What I claim as my invention, and desire .to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the posts and B, the pins Gand D, the wedge E, stop F, 4the collars G and K, the arms H and I, the lines J, and pin L, when constructed, arranged, and operating substantiallyas and for the purposes designed and herein described.
