SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 761,468, dated May 31, 1904.
Application filed May 16 1903.
T all whom tim/ay concern,.-
. height ofthe board and which is also capable of ready removal to` be replaced by a board of a different character-as, for example, to replace the ordinary board used in ironing shirtbosoms with a sleeve-board.
A further object of the invention is to provide anironing-table which may be readily taken apart and closely packed for storage or transportation and which is cheap in construction, durable, and eiiicient in operation. A
The invention consists'in the construction, combination, and arrangement Of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lis a perspective View of an ironingtable constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, the sleeve being in section. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective View of one of the ironing-boards used in connection with my invention.
Referring to the drawings by referencenumerals, l designates a base constructed fromV any suitable material and of a size and weight sufficient to counterbalance the pressure brought to bear during ironing upon the ironing-board, which is supported by said base.
2 designates a standard vertically arranged upon the base to one side of the center thereof and is preferably rectangular and may be formed integral with the base or made separately and secured thereto. Mounted upon the standard to have a vertical adjustment thereon is a sleeve 3, the same being rectangular in cross-section andY of a size sufficient to receive the standard and have-a free movement thereon. The sleeve is adapted to be held in adjusted position by means Of a bolt 4;, carried thereby and adapted to engage one of a series of perforations 5' in the standard 2.
Serial No. 157,461. (No model.)'
6 designates an ironing-board, which may be of any character--as, for example, a bosom or sleeve board-and is mounted upon the sleeve to be vertically adjusted and detachably connected thereto to permit of its being readily removed and replaced by a board of a diierent character.' The'ironing-board is provided on its under side with a depending stud 7 adapted to be received by the upper end of the sleeve 3, and is preferably rectangular to prevent the board having ahorizontal movement upon the sleeve. The stud is arranged to one side Eof the Ycenter of the board to place the greater portion thereof away from the sleeve 3 in order that'the same will not interfere with the application of an article of apparel to the board.
It is apparent from the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, that I provide an ironing-table in which the board thereof may be readily adjusted to suit the convenience of the Operator and which can lbe quickly removed to be replaced by a board of a different character. It is also apparent that the ironing-table may be converted into an ordinary table by simply removing the board and inserting in lieu thereof a table-top provided with a lug 7. 4
Having thus described the invention, what is claimedas new is- 1. In an ironing-table, the combination with a base, of lal standard provided with perforations and secured to the base, a sleeve provided with perforations and adjustably and removably mounted on the standard,'means to pass through the perforations to retain the sleeve in adjusted position, an ironing-board,
'and a stud secured to the under side'of the .board to be received by the sleeve.
2. In an ironing-table, the combination with a base, of a rectangular sleeveadjustably and removably mounted thereon, an ironingboard, and a rectangular lug secured to the board and adapted to be received by the sleeve to removably secure the board thereto.
In testimony whereof I aiiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
