SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 761,327, dated May 31, 1904.
Application filed November 28, 1902. Serial No. 133,152. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED G. SMITH, a-citizen of the United States, residing at Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, haveinvented a new and useful Improvement inStoves, of which improvement the following is a specification.
- This invention relates to an improved gas stove; andv it consists in the certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinafter;
In the accompanying drawings, Figure-1 is a perspective view of my improved stove, the
same being constructed and arranged in ac- Flg. 2 is a cencordance with my invention. tral side sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional ,plan view of the stove. Fig. e is a reduced plan view of the blank forming the back, sides, and top of the stove. Fig. v5 is a similar view of the blank forming the back wall and burner. Fig. 6 is a view of the blank forming the air-mixer. To put my invention into practice, and there'- by form the body portion, the back wall, and burner from two pieces of sheet metal, I provide a sheet of thin metal of a suitable size and out or shear the same in the form shown at Fig. 1 of the drawings, which consists of'the top or cap portion 1, the side walls 2 and 3, when bent at the rjghtangles to the sheet, and the integral front portion orfender 4:, the said fender being flanged to engage with the side portion 3, as shown in Fig. 3. This piece when bent'in form as above described will form the body portion of the stove, and by means of suitable screws 7 the same is held rigid in the form shown'at Fig. l of the drawings. I now provide arectangular sheet of metal 8,(see Fig.5,) having an opening 9 at a point near the topand a somewhat smaller. opening 10 near the bottom, together with a series of minute perforations 11, extending across the base of the said sheet. The lower portion of this sheet is bent in the form of a cylinder to form the burner 12 and the. whole supported within the body portion of the-stove in any suitable manner and the ends of the burner12 fitted with cap-pieces.
Connected to the burner 12 at the opening 10 is an air-mixer 13, which is formed from a small piece of sheet metal, the contour of which is shown at Fig. 6 of the drawings, the said piece 13 being provided with radial portions 14:, each of which is provided'with an opening- 15, and when the said fender 4;, will admit air both to the stove and to the mixer 13.
The back wall Sis arranged within the stove in a position that will form a compartment 17 and the front of the said wall covered with asbestos or mineral-wool fiber 18.
It will be seen that the stove constructed as described is practically formed from two sheets'of metal, not including the end pieces of the burner 12 or the air-mixer 18.
Various slight modifications and changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention. Therefore I do not confine myself to the exact construction shown and described.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is In combination with a gas-stove,'the body portion, the back 8 having its lower end turned into a cylindrical roll with apertures 11 therein, an air-mixer 13 underneath said roll and in contact therewith and having bottom strips with apertures, which strips are adapted to be radially arranged to bring said apertures into registration to receive a gas-supply pipe,- and provided with air-inlet-spaces intermediate said strips, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. r
