Be it known that I, L. lIAiVE-S, of Whitewater, county of Walworth, and -Stnte ot' Wisconsin, have iriJenteCl` a. new and tiselul lnlprorernentin Bed-Bottoms; itnrl I (lo hereby declare that the following is :L full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will ena-ble those skilled in the art to malte and use the suine, refer ence being had to the accompanying drnwing, ferniing part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a. view of a, portion of ay bed-slut and the fasteningwhich secures it to the heilstend.

The object of my invention is to producen superior spring-hed bottom. l
A, :t bed-bottom slet; B, :tn elastic strep, one end secured to the slat'A; O, n bent staple, to which one end of the strep B is secured; D, a. serrated bar, with holes in its ends for screws, which secure one end et the Velastic strap B to the slet A; E, a button, to hold the staple C {irmly in place; F, a. portion of a. b eflsteml.
The slet A, having lthe strttpB scoured to it bythe clnrnp D, and the other en d of the strap B secured to staple C, as shown, the staple C is inserted in holes in the bedsteail, :tml thebutton E turned, so that one end of it shell be over the end of.strep B,'zts shown, (iig. l.) The other end oi' slet A secured to the other end of the bedsteed in seme way, and, when a suilieient number of these slats are in position, e. bealLbottom is formed. To take thc slats out, turn button E bnielz, :infl lift the staple C out of the holes in the beflstead.
tlhztt I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. Slat A, elastic strap B, bent staple C, and clump D in combination, substantially :is described.
2. I claim securing strap B'to slut A bythe ser-rated clamp D, Ysnbstanti'zilly as described.
3., Staple C, with button E, in combination, substantially as described.
