PATENT OFFICE.
WRITING-PEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 760,409, dated May 24, 1904. Application filed February 18, 1903. Serial No. 143,944. (No model.)
To on, whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J (has ANDERSSON, a subject of the King of Sweden and Norway, residing at Stockholm, Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Writing-Pens, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a writing-pen improved in two respectsviz., it runs very readily and smoothly over the paper and is capable of retaining a considerable quantity of ink at a time.
The accompanying drawings show the improved pen on an enlarged scale in plan, Figure 1, and side elevation, Fig. 2, respectively.
Its main feature is that the pointed projecting part of the metal plate constituting the nibs is split or out along the lines 2 and 3. In
other words, a branching out 1 extends parallel to the inclined sides of the pen down to the point. Owing to the increased elasticity or springiness thereby imparted to the two nibs of the pen and to the fact that these nibs are at the same time flattened down, the use of the pen is rendered easy and pleasant.
Both in the inner angle 4 of the point of intersection of the cuts and at the upper ends of such cuts holes are made for the purpose of enabling the pen to take up more ink at each dip.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
A pen having a flat nib, said nib having a slit therein, the said slit branching into two diverging slits which run outwardly through the curved portion of the pen, the branches of the said slit ending in perforations, said nib also having a perforation therethrough connecting with the slit.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
