ISIDOR BRACH, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
ATOMIZER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 760,177, dated May 1'7, 1904.
Application filed December 15, 190d- Serial No. 185,188. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IsIDoR BRACH, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Atomizers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of an atomizer having an ordinary stopper composed of a stopper proper, which may be simply a piece of cork'or wood, a portion of the upper side of which is removed, forming a shoulder in which is a horizontally-extending opening, said stopper proper having a vertical opening'therein and pipes which are freely fitted in said openings to slide therein and having their discharge ends in juxtaposed position in the exposed ofiset existing at the side of the aforesaid shoulder where said ends are visible for adjustment, thus providing a simple, easily-operated, and inexpensive atomizer.
It also consists of details of construction, as will be hereinafter described.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a sprayer embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a vertical section thereof. Fig. 3 represents a top orplan view thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures. 4
Referring to the drawings, A designates a bottle or receptacle; B, a stopper therefor; C, a suction-pipe, and D a blow-pipe.
The pipes or tubes C. and D are fitted in openings or bores E and F in said stopper, the same extending at a right angle to each other, whereby the outlet ends of said pipe are in juxtaposition, so that when the pipe D is blown into the fluid from the bottle will be expelled through the pipe C and subjected at its discharge end to the air from the pipe D, whereby it is converted into spray, as in an atomizer, it being, however, noticed that the pipes freely occupy said openings, whereby while they are firmly supportedby frictional contact with the walls of the openings the pipe C may be raised and lowered and'the' pipe D moved to the right and left by easy sliding motions and the outlet ends of said pipes placed nearer to or farther from each other for producing a fine or coarse spray or one of greater or less volume.
In order to properly support the pipes in the manner and in the position stated, the stopper B is formed with a head G, which rises from one portion of the top of the stopper and has the opening F therein, whereby, the pipe Dis supported and made adjustable, while the pipe O occupies the body proper of said stopper, it being noticed that the remaining portionof the top of the stopper provides the offset or cut-away portion H, in which the outlet ends of the pipes C and D are located,
so that said ends are open to the atmosphere, 1 producing the best effects in spraying and exposing said ends, whereby they may be placed close together for purposes of communication directly at the top wall of the stopper, where they may be visibly adjusted.
Various changes may be made in thedetails of construction shown without departing from the general spirit of my invention, and I do not, therefore, desire to be limited in each case to the same; but the freedom of connection of the pipes C and D with the walls of the openings E and F should be preserved, as it admits of the ready adjustment of said pipes at the outlet ends thereof andthe convenient removal of said pipes simply by drawing them Having thus described my invention, What per, and slidable pipes freely occupying the I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters respective openings in said shoulder and stop I 0 Patent, is per.
In an atomizer, a stopper consisting of an i 5 ordinary stopper proper having a portion of 181D OR U the upper side thereof removed forming &' Witnesses: shoulder, a horizontally-arranged opening in JOHN A. VVIEDERsHEIM,
said shoulder, avertical opening in said step; S. R. CARR.
