Be it known that we, CHARLES S. HALE and OLIVER G. HUBBELL, of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahogas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new' and useful Improvements in Spring-Bottoms for Boots and Shoes and we do hereby declare that the following is a full'and complete'descrption of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a. part of this specification, in whieh i Figure 1 is a side View of the spring-bottom attached to a boot or shoe.

In the drawing, A represents a. thin metallic plate, which is to be secured to the sole of the boot, and. is provided with an elastic heel,B. To the under side of this plate is secured, at a, the spring C, the other end of said spring being secured to the lower plate D. VThis spring may be of any elastic material, or coiled spring, if
