POCKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.
757,879, dated April 19, 1904.
Application tiled July 15, 1903- SerialNo.165.584:- No model.)
To a. IIF/HHH: it may concern:
Be it known that l, LOUlSA M. Bnown, a citizen of the United States, residing at Central City, in the county of Lawrence and State of South Dakota. have invented new and useful Improvements in Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a pocket for use by carpenters and mechanics. generally; and the primary object-of the same is to provide a poeltet having an antislipping inner surface and rear to prevent tools or implements inserted therein from accidentally slipping out of place or falling from the pocket.
The invention consists of a pocket constructed of rubber or rubber cloth having the E inner surface of the front and the front surface of the baclt roughened or l a series of intersecting corrugations which produce means for closely engaging tools or implements and creating a resisting adhesion thereon to prevent them from falling out of the pocket.
The invention further consists in the details of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a pocket embodying the features of the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same. 1
Similar numerals of reference are employed. to indicate cor 'esponding parts in the views. l
The numeral 1 designates the front of the pocket, and 2 the back of the same. The front and back are formed from strips or pieces of rubber or rubber cloth having their inner surfaces 3 roughened by intersecting corrugations or grooves, the front 1 in the present instance being secured by stitches to l the back 3. The front is centrally bulged or i projected for convenience in inserting an implement or tool in the pocket, and, as clearly I provided with shown by Fig. 2, the pocket converges toward its lower extremity, which will create a more iirm binding action on the tool or implement inserted therein. of the front is cut away, as at 4, for convenience in grasping the upper end of the tool or implement inserted in the pocket, and it is intended that the proportions and dimensions of the pocket be varied at will to accommodate the insertion therein of different sizes of implements. It is also intended that the shape of the pocket be varied, and the bulge or projection of the front 2 may be increased or t i niinished.
'lhe pocket will be applied to overalls and blouses or jumpers at such points as may be desired or to any other articles ordinarily used by worltmen or artisans geneizally.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new is 1. A pocket for the purpose set forth, having the front centrally bulged and comerging toward its lower extremity, the latter being closed, the I inner opposing surfaces of the front and back of the pocket. being roughened by intersecting corrugathms arranged at an angle to each other.
2. A pocket for the purpose set forth, having the inner opposing surfaces of the front and back formed of rubber and rougl'iened by forming thereon intersecting corrugated surfaces.
3. A pocket for the purpose set forth, having the inner surfaces of the front and back roughened over the entire extent of said surfaces within the pocket confines the of the pocket being closed.
in testimony whereof l atlix my presence of two witnesses.
