Be it known that we, HOWARD H. OOTHOUDT and WILLIAM F. STAHL, citizens of the United States, residing at Toledo, inthe county of Lucas and State of Ohio," have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Telephone- Supports; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in telephone-supports; and the object of the invention is to produce a simple and efficient means for attachment to a desk, whereby a telephone transmitter and receiver may be supported within convenient reach of an operator sitting adjacent to the desk.

The invention consists, essentially, of a hinged bracket-arm made, preferably, of asingle piece of wire, which is bent so as to form aseries of radiating slots, each of which receives a clamping member, which is held to the wire forming the wall of the slot, and adapted to engage overthe edge of the standard of the telephone-transmitter.

Our invention consists, further, in various details of construction and in arrangements of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

We illustrate our invention in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of our inven tion shown as applied to the end of a desk. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan View of the end of thebracket.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a hinge member, which may be of any suitable shape and adapted to be fastened to the end of a desk or to any other object, and B designates a wire or rod which is bent upon itself at substantially its longitudinal center, forming a slot O, which is in alinement with the bracketarm. Said wire is then bent upon itself, as at D and E, forming two additional slots, which are disposed at obtuse angles to the slot which is in alinement with the bracket member. The two portions of the wire adjacent to said slots D and E are twisted together, as at H, in alinement with the bracket-arm.

K K designate clamping members which are apertured to receive a screw N, upon the threaded portion of which winged nuts M are mounted, whereby said clamping members may be held in adjusted positions along the length of the slots to adapt the same to engage over the base portion of telephone-transmitters.

" The ends of the wire forming the bracketarm are bent at right angles and are journaled in the hinge member, fastened to the desk or other object.

By the provision of a device embodying the features of our invention a simple and efficient means is provided for holding a telephonetransmitter, which may be clamped to the swinging end of the bracket and swung around into convenient position for use by an operator, and by the provision of the adjustable clamping members the same may be adjusted to various forms and sizes of base portions of telephone-transmitters. When the telephone is not in. use, it may be swung around out of the way against the end of the desk.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. A telephone-support comprising a metallic bracket-arm made of a single piece of wire, a hinge member to which the ends of said wire are pivoted, said wire being bent to form radial slots, a clamping member carried by each of said slotted portions, and a winged nut and a screw for holding each of the clamping members in anadjusted position, asset forth.

2. A telephone support comprising a bracket-arm made of a wire, the ends of which are pivoted to a hinge member adapted for attachment to a desk, said wire being bent upon In testimony whereof we hereunto affix out signatures in presence of two Witnesses.
