. and a guide-measure for drilling the holes for the cross or rail-supports e or cylinders E. The strap is first bent -to form a foot, a, vthe side carried up yand rounded at top, and'bent paralleltoform the other side A and foot a. 'The cylinders'EAare introduced, and round iron or headed boltsv e'pnssd through the sides and cylinder, and secured by riveting or otherwise. To stitfenxtlie spread base, I aiix triangular caps B and vcross-braces GD 'inthe manner shown. This forms the post.A l 9 I am awarethat the simpledrawing may seem the same as when posts are' madeof two rails, with inter- `vening blocks and a braced or` spread base such I do not' claim. Tho novelty ot my `post .consists Ain the man.
ner of its construction and combination of the material specified.-
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv The manner of constructingthe sides A of a post for a rail fence from strap-iron, in combination with the cap B onfthe spread base with its feet a and braces C D-arranged substantially in. the manner shown and specified. y
