Beit known that I, Lnvr N. BLYDENBURGH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city and county of New Haven, in the State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvementin the Construction of Buildings, which is fully set forth anddescribed in the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings which form a part thereof, and in which- Figure 1 is an eleva-tion embodying my invention; Fig. 2, a section through 2 2 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a sectional View of a modified form of construction.

My invention relates to the constructing of buildings, and more particularly to the construction of the inner and outer Walls of a building, in the combination of studs pro vided with casings, and slabs adapted to be secured to said studs,as more fully shown and.
described hereinafter.
In the`drawings, A represents the studs of a building partially surrounded by a case or casings B, of artificial stone or other suitable material, consisting of 'a front b, sides b and b2, the ends b3 and b4 of said sides b' and b2 being adapted to extend beyond the inner edges of said studs and have formed thereon matching joints b5 and h6. On said sides b and b2 of said case or casings B are formed groovesb7 and bs. Slabs C of artificial stone or other suitable material are adapted to fit in the grooves b7 and b8 of said case or casings to be held thereby and rest one upon the other in well-known manner to form the outer walls of a building, allowing said case or casings to show on said outside of the building, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Slabs D of artiicial stone or other suitable material, having formed on their inner surface corresponding matching joints CZ and d', are adapted to fit over the matching joints b5 and b of the case or casings B, one on top of the other, and be locked thereby in well-known manner, thus making the inside wall of a building, as shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 shows a modification in the form and combination of said studs and slabs and in which the studs A are partiallyinclosed by a divided case or casings E, of artificial stone or other suitable material, the ends of which extend beyond the outer edges of said studs and have formed thereon matching joints e and e', while the inner ends thereof partially incase the inner side of'said studs, as shown in Fig. 3. Slabs F of artificial stone or other suitable material, having corresponding matching joints f and f', are adapted to fit over matching jointse and c of, the case or casings E, one on top of the other, and be locked thereby in well-known manner to make the outer wall of a building, and a strip of wood or other suitable material G of equal thickness to said case or casings is adapted to be secured to the side of said studs A between the inner ends of said case or casings,to which is adapted to be secured laths for the construction of the inside wall in well-known manner and as shown in Fig. '3.
Having now described my invention, what I claim,and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. In a building, the combination with the studs; casings on said studs with the ends of said casings extending beyond said studs and having formed integral therewith matching joints; slabs having formed on their inner surface corresponding matching joints adapted to tit over the matching joints on said casings and be secured thereby; grooves in said casings, and slabs adapted to iit in said grooves and be held thereby, substantially as described.
2. In a building, the combination with the studs thereof; vof Ydivided casings, the outer ends of which are adapted to extend' beyondthe outer edges of said studs and the inner ends thereof to partially inclose the inner side of said studs; matching joints formed integral with the outer ends of said casings; and slabs having on their inner surface corresponding matching joints adapted to fit over the matching joints on said casings and be held in position thereby, substantially as described.
