Be it known that we, SAMUEL D. REID and ELLA M. REID, citizens of the United States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Coffey and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Combined Lap-Robe and Storm- Apron, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a combined laprobe and stormcurtain for vehicles; and the object of the device is to provide means Whereby the identity thereof as a lap-robe Will not be vapparent when used as a storm-curtain, and vice versa.

Another object is to eiiectually conceal the attaching edges of theapron Within a pocket when not in use.

Further objects and advantages of this invention, as well as the novel details of coustruction, will be referred to hereinafter, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention, showing the position of the parts as a storm-curtain. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device as a lap-robe. Fig. 3 is a sectional view ouv the line o: c of Fig.Y 1. Fig. 4 is a sectional view on the line h ZJ of Fig. 1. The device is illustrated as comprising two sheets 1 and 2, of fabric, either of which is lined with a sheet 3 of material impervious to moisture, the edges of the several sheets being connected by a felled seam 4 on three sides, forming a multi-ply structure in the form of a pocket, Within which the attaching edges of the storm-curtain are normally contained, and which is capable of being inverted or turned inside out to provide a stormapron or a lap-robe, as desired.

5 and 6 designate the side flanges of the curtain, and 7 and S, respectively, ldesignate the top and bottom flanges, all of which coustitute the attaching edges of the device when used as astorm-curtain. The connected edge of each ange except the top .one is contained Within the felled seam 4,' so that both' sheets 1 and 2, the lining 3, and the liauges 5,' 6, and 8 can all be' secured Vtogether by a single operationl or by providing a single seam. The edge of the top iiange is attached to the device slightly below the open edge of the pocket, so as to prevent any liability of the Water passing through the seam and into the pocket and so that it will be shed upon the curtain or apron.

At suitable points on the impervious sheet arefastening members 9, adapted to coact with complementary members 10 on the flanges or laps in order that the flaps can be folded down upon the sheet and held when the storm-curtain is not used as such.

Opposite to thefastening members 10 are similar members .11,Which coincide with suitable devices upon the vehicle to be engaged when the iiaps are free and exteriorly vaccessible. Exterior and interior fastening devices 12 and 13 are also provided at the open end ot the pocket,so that the opening can be closed, although, if desired, the feet of the occupant of the vehicle can be placed in the pocket above described. In order to protect the lower edge of the device, a binding 14 is provided, which will assist the Water to pass ed from the impervious sheet 3 as Well as protect the fabric.

In practice the aps 5, 6, and 8 will be made a part of the sheet 8, While the flap 7 will be a separate part, thus materially reducing the cost of manufacture.

Having thus described our invention,'what we claim is- 1. A combined lap-robe and storm-apron comprising a pocket-like structure having daps normally disposed on the inside of said pocket'in inaccessible position, said iiaps being accessible when the pocket is in its're- IOO a sheet of impervious material normally with- Y in the pocket and overlapping securing-flaps normally carried within the pocket.

4. A stormapron,comprising a pair of fabric sheets, a lining-sheet of impervious material, and securing-flaps connected to edges of the sheets by a single seam.

5. A device of the class described,compris ing a pocket with securing-aps having oppositely-disposed fastening members and complementary fastening members in the pocket.

6. A device of the class described comprising a plurality of sheets secured together along their edges on three sides thereofl to form a pocket-like structure and having securing-flaps attached to said edges Within said pocket.

7. A device of the class described comprising a plurality of sheets secured together along their edges on three sides thereof and detachably connected at the other side to form a pocket-like structure, and having secur- SAMUEL D. REID.
