Be it known that I, HARRvH. LoTH, of

of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inRoller-Hangers for Aerial Cables; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention,which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use `the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.

This invention has reference to a rollerhanger for aerial cables; and it has for its object to provide more effective "means than have heretofore been provided in devices of a similar character, whereby the same are securely fastened to the cable adapted to sup-v port them.

The nature of the improvement will be best understood by vreference to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, and the same comprises the novel combination and arrangement of the parts In the drawings, Figure l is an elevation of my improved cable-hanger. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the frame of the hanger open to receive the cable. Fig. 3 is a side elevationof the hanger. Fig. 4 is a transverse sectionon lineman, Fig. l, taken through the top bar of the hanger, disclosing the hook-shaped fastening-bolt for securing the supporting-cable.

Referring to the details, l indicates the pulley adapted to support the telephone-cable, the same being mounted in a frame 2, inclosing the pulley on opposite sides and at the bottom, the top :being open to permit the cable to be laid in `the groove of the pulley. The pulley rotates upona bolt 3, and at one end of the bolt is pivoted a swinging bar 4, provided at its free end' with a laterally-extending slot 5. The operation of my im proved cable-hanger will be understood by those skilled in the art to which my invention relates. It will be apparent that I provide means for securely 7o fastening the hanger upon the supportingcable and that when the swinging bare is lowered to remove or replace the telephonecable there is not the usual danger of dislodging the entire hanger. Furthermore, the frame in which the pulley is mounted being pivotally connected at its upper end with the supporting-bar the danger of breakage at the angle of connection of theframe with the supporting-bar is eliminated, such break- 8o age ofttimes resulting where the frame and the cross-bar are integral, asa result of the lateral pull upon the hanger. By means of the construction shown -the pulley supporting the cable is permitted to swing in either direction, thereby compensating for any lateralstrain.

The novelty, utility,and advantages of my invention will be apparent.

Having described my invention, what I 9o claim, and desire to secure'by Letters Patent, 1s-

l. In acable-hauger, asupporting-bar having its ends bent at right angles and provided at these ends with slots entering from the lower edges thereof, a hook-shaped bolt 'extending through a perforation in said bar adapted to engage a supporting-cable, and a frame carrying a pulley, pivotally connected with said supporting-bar, substantially as roo described.

2. In a cable-hanger, a supporting-bar having its ends bent at right angles and provided gage the frame on one side of said bar and the free end of theswinging bar on the other side thereof, substantially as shown and for I5 the purpose set forth.
