PATENT OFFIC WILLIAM LAMB, OF ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO C. H. ALLEN & COMPANY, OFATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, A' FIRM.
WATCH-FOB.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 736,606, dated August 18, 1903.
Application filed March 24, 1902. Serial No. 99,736. (No model.)
To (all whono it may concern:
Be it known that LVVILLIAM H.LAME,a citi zen of theUnited States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Watch-Fobs.of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improvement in a watch-fob; and it consists in the peculiar and novel construction of the loop supporting the fob and the watch, whereby the same are securely held against accidental displacement, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter.
Figure 1 is a front View of a watch-fob provided with my improved supporting loop. Fig. 2 is a rear View of the same. Fig. 3 isa sectional view of part of a garment provided with a pocket, showing my improved watchfob secured to the same. Fig. 4 is a rear view of the improved supportingloop, and Fig. 5 is a side view of the same.
In the drawings, a indicates a fob, which is usually formed of some textile material, but may be of any desired form or material; I), a wire loop, formed by bending a suitable length of wire on the middle of its length into the hook b and then crimping the two wires near the lower end of the loop transversely to form the hump 6 The two wires of the loop are bent at b to form a spring-hook. The wires are now bent at right angle in opposite directions at b b 'and the ends 5 b bent back toward each other. In the preferred form the hump b is opposite the elongated opening b near the end I), so that the hump may force the material of the pocket into the elongated opening I) and materially increase the holding force of the hook. To the loop 0 the watch-swivel c is secured by the chain c.
(1 indicates the material of the garment, and e the pocket.
The ends b b of the wire loop b form the support of the fob at, these ends being insorted into or between the material of the fob proper, as is clearlyindicated in broken lines in Figs. 1 and 2.
As the whole loop I) is formed of one piece of spring-wire, the several parts cooperate to securely hold the fob in place and yet permit the hooked portion of the loop to pass over the edge of the pocket and the material of the garment.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination with the fob a, of the loop 1) having the elongated opening b, the hook b, the chain 6 having one end thereof engaging with the hook, and the hump b on the hook b, said hump 12 being opposite said elongated opening 19 whereby the material of the pocket is forced into the elongated opening b, as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM H. LAMB.
