SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 734,743, dated July 28, 1903. Application filed September 8. 1902. Serial No. 122.579. (Ne specimens.)
; To all whom/it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED PAUL, a citizen of the United States, residing at No. 7 Union street, Melrose Highlands, in the county of ,Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Composition of Matter to be Used as Fuel, of which the following is a specification.
My composition consists of the following ingredients,combinedin the proportions stated,
viz: coal-dust screenings or waste, fourteen to fifteen pounds; wood-sawdust, one to one and onefourth pounds; resin, (grounrl,) one pound six ounces to one pound ten ounces;
beer, (alcoholic, sour,) one-half gallon; n10- lasses, four to eight ounces, first, my chief ingredient,consisting of coal-dust,screen'ings, or waste, the refuse deposit of anthracite and bituminous coal; the second ingredient, (wood-sawdust,) sawdust from pine, spruce, cypress, chestnut, birch, ash, elm, oak, whitewood, hemlock, hickory, maple, or mahogany; the third ingredient, (resin,) common pineresin, ground; the fourth ingredient, (beer, alcoholic, sour,) this ingredient to consist of either ale, porter, or lager when it becomes I a refuse or sour, said ingredients made from malt and hops; the fifth ingredient, (molasses,) this ingredient to consist of the lowgrade sugar molasses, the above ingredients to be thoroughly mixed in the proportion already described, these ingredients to be thoroughly mixed. The composition is then pressed into forms, baked or dried to a hard solid body, the forms to be square, oblong, or any convenient shape suitable for kitchenrange, fireplace, stove, heater, furnace, or engine-boiler.
I hereby claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The composition of ingredients herein described, consisting of coal-dust, screenings or waste, wood-sawdust, resin, sour beer (alcoholic) and molasses, mixed together, to form a fuel from coal-dust, substantially as described and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
ALFRED PAUL.
