SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.. 729,936, dated June 2,1903.
Application filed July 28, 1902. Serial No. 117,324. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. HEYBECK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allef gheny and State of Pennsylvania,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dru mheads, of which the following is a speciiication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in heads for drums and similar instruments; and the primary object thereof is to provide a drumhead which is produced by chemicallyV treating fabric.
Broadly, the invention comprises one or more thicknesses of Woven fabric-such as silk, satin, linen, te-which are gummed together and treated on their outer faces with a stiffening composition composed of shellac, mercury, oxalic acid, and salt.
