SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 725,808, dated April 21, 1903.
Application filed February 20,1903. Serial No. 144,272. (No model.)
such as will enable others skilled in the art' to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in lamp-brackets; and the object is to produce a device that will be capable of vertical and rotary adjustment, while at the same time it will be of substantial construction and neat appearance.
The invention is more fully described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 shows my entire device in position on the wall, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view through X X of Fig. l.
1 represents a wall, against which my device is securely fastened by means of plates 2. These plates are formed with right-angled arms 3, preferably tapped and into each of which enters one of the screw-threaded ends of a vertical guide-rod 4. This guide rod is approximately rectangular in cross-section and is formed with a number of indentalions 5 along three of its surfaces.
6 is a sliding clamp and comprises abody portion 6, having a central opening through which the guide-rod 4 passes. This clamp is provided with a thumb-screw '7, the inner end of which is adapted to engage one of the said indentations 5. Formed integral with the body 6 of the clamp is a curved arm 8, screwthreaded at its extremity 9, which extremity is turned upward. On this arm 8, close to the body 6, is formed an upwardly-extending supplemental arm 10. The arm 8 is intended to supporta lamp 12, and the arm l0is intended to supporta reflector 11. The clamp will be adj ustabie on said guide-rod vertically, and it will also be capable of assuming three positions in an imaginary are around the said guide-rod.
The device can be applied with equal facility as a support for either an oil, gas, or electric lamp.
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A lamp-bracket comprising two retainingplates having perforated right-angled arms 3 formed integral therewith, a vertical rectangular guide-rod, screw-threaded externally at either end and adapted to engage said arms 3, indentations formed in three surfaces of said guide-rod, and a sliding clamp, capable of vertical and rotary adjustment on the said guide-rod, comprising a body portion, a curved arm having upwardly-turned, screwthreaded, free end, adapted to support a lamp, and a vertical supplemental arm near said body, adapted to support a reflector, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. WEIDNER.
