Be it known that we, LOUIS O. KNOTH and OTTO WILLMANOWSKY, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and usefullmprovernent in Curtain-Fixtures; and we do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanyingdrawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specilication, and represent, in-

This invention relates to an improvement in curtain-fixtures, and particularly to such as combine the fixture for a curtain-shade roller with an arm or bracket for a curtain-v pole, the object of the invention beinga construction which permits the fixture to be adjusted upon a window-casing so that it may be used to support shade-rollers of different lengths; and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.

In carrying out ourinvention we employa shade-bracket consisting of a body-plate A, having an outwardlyextending arm B, the brackets being arranged in pairs and the arms of each pair being provided with the usual slots or notches O for engagement with the ends of the shade-roller. In the body-plate A is a longitudinal slot D, and the plate is secured against a window-casing E by means of a clamping-plate F, which bears upon the face of the body-plate A and is secured to the casing by screws G, which extend through the clamping-plate and through the slot D into the casing. Preferably and as herein shown the clamping-plate F is formed on opposite sides with inwardly-turned lugs H, which enter the slot D and serve to retain the body-plate A in a horizontal position, and by having lugs on opposite sides one screw may be sufficient to clamp the body-plate A to the window-casing. The inner end of the body-4 plate is bent to form a vertical groove I in its under face. Near its outer end two horizontal slits ot b are cut in the plate, and the metal above the slit et is struck outward to form an outwardly-bowed bridge J, while the metal below the slit b is struck outwardly to form a bridge K, these bridges J K virtually forming a groove near the outer end of the plate.

The curtain-pole bracket consists of a wire doubled upon itself and the double end bowed to form a semicircular hook L, beyond which the arms M N of the bracket diverge, the end O of the arm N being turned downwardly at a right angle and passed beneath the bridges J K and over the face of the body-plate A, as shown in Fig. l, while the end P of the arm M is likewise turned downward and enters the groove I, formed at the inner end of the body-plate A, the pole-bracket being thus firmly supported.

Instead of forming the two bridges J K a continuous groove might he formed in the under face of the body-plate near its outer end; but we prefer to form the two bridges so that the end O of the arm N will be supported by the outer end of the body-plate when the outer end of the body-plate projects beyond the edge of the window-casing, as indicated in Fig. 2.

We are aware that window-shade brackets have been formed whereby they may be adjustably secured to the window-casing and that curtain-pole brackets have been combined with window-shade brackets. We therefore do not wish to be understood as claiming, broadly, such as our invention.

VHaving fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The herein-described curtain-fixture consisting of a body-plate formed with an outwardly extending shade roller supporting arm, and with a horizontal slot, means extending through said slot for clamping the body-plate to the window-casing, said bodyplate formed at its opposite ends with grooves in its inner face, and a curtain-pole bracket formed from wire the ends of which are turned downward to enter the said grooves, substantially as described.
