UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MosEs OFFENBERG, OF BERLIN, GERMANY.
APPARATUS FOR REGULATING THE GAS-PRESSURE IN BURNERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 724,035, dated March 31, 1903.
Application filed December 11, 1901. 'Serial No. 85,538. (No model.)
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MOSES OFFENBERG, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, and a resident of Luisen Ufer, Berlin, Kingdom of Prussia,'German Empire, have invented a new and useful Apparatus for Regulating the Gas-Pressure in Burners, of which the following is an exact specification.
My invention relates to a new and'improved apparatus to be attached to a gas-burner, which apparatus serves for regulating the gaspressure.
In order to make my invention more clear, I refer to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new apparatus. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of part of the same.
The apparatus consists of two nipples A and B, screwed together at 0. Inside the nipple B a thread D is provided for screwing the same upon the gas-pipe. Within this hip ple B a wire webbing a is provided, which serves for diminishing the streaming velocity of the gas. Upon the upper edge of the nip- I) a hole is provided, which is closed by the metal ball 0, whereby a regulation of the gaspressure is attained, In the upper nipple A a second wire webbing d is provided, which serves for uniformly propagating the gas in the upper part of the nipple. This upper part is provided with outside threads for screwing the burner upon the same.
1 In order to be able to use the-apparatus itself as a burner, a cup 6 may be provided, which can be screwed upon the upper part of the nipple A and which is provided with one or several holes f, through which the gas streams out.
Having thus fully described the nature of this invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is- In an apparatus for regulating the gas-pressure, the combination of two nipples screwed one .upon the other, a cup provided with a hole'in the bottom and situated upon the upper edge of the lower nipple, and a metal ball situated within the cup, with a wire webbing situated in the lower nipple below the cup and a second Wire Webbing situated in the upper nipple above the cup, substantially as de scribed and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MOSES OFFENBERG.
