ABNER CAREY, OF MILLS, PE NNSYLVANIA.
DUMPlNG-WAGON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 719,644, dated February 3, 1903.
Application filed June 17,1902. Serial No. 112,071. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ABNER CAREY, residing at Mills, in the county of Potter and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dumping-\Vagons, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to dumping-wagons, and has for its object to provide a wagon that is simple in construction, easy to operate, that consists of a very few parts, and is thus reasonable in cost of manufacture.
The advantages of myinvention will more fully appear hereinafter and by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of wagon-body showing my invention; Fig. 2, a plan view showing the position taken in dumping the load; Fig. 3, a cross-section on line 3 3 of Fig. 1; Figs. 4 and 5, detail views of the means for pivoting the Wagon-body to the frame, and Fig. 6 a detail view of one of the journaled beams.
In the drawings similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
A designates the axle of a wagon; B, the bolster; C, cross-pieces resting on bolsters B; D, a beam secured to cross-pieces O, and E transverse bars secured to beam D at its ends and in the center. v
F represents beams j ournaledin metal loops G, secured on the ends of transverse bars E and in the ends of cross-pieces 0, having transverse grooves near their ends, as shown at H, and a strap I to pass over the beam F,
said beam F being formed with circular journals K to fit said loops G and hollowed-out portions H and straps I.
L represents boards secured to beams F to form the floor of the Wagon-body, their abutting edges resting on the beam D when the wagon is not dumping, while M represents the side pieces, also secured to beams F.
N represents angular braces to secure the beams F and floor I. and side pieces M together.
0 represents the end. pieces secured to the floor and side pieces, and P a hasp and staple verse bars, beams having rounded portions journaled in said loops, and the Wagon-body divided longitudinally into two sections, each of said sections being secured to one of said beams, substantially as shown and described.
2. In a dumping-wagon, cross-pieces secured to the bolsters having transverse grooves, beams having rounded portions resting in said grooves, straps passing over said rounded portions and secured to said crossdinally into two sections, each of said sections being secured toone of said beams, substant-ially as shown and described.
3. In a dumping-wagon, bolsters secured to the wagon-axles, cross-pieces secured to said bolsters having grooves near their ends, a beam secured to the center of said crosspieces, transverse bars secured to said beam, loops secured to the ends of said bars, beams having rounded portions journaled in said loops and resting in the grooves in said crosspieces, straps secured to the cross-pieces and passing around said beams, and the wagonbody divided longitudinally into two sections,
each of said sections being secured to one of said beams, substantially as shown and described.
4. In a dumping-wagon, bolsters secured to the wagon-axles, cross-pieces secured to said bolsters having grooves near their ends, a beam secured at the center of said crosspieces, transverse bars secured to said beam, loops secured to the ends of said bars, beams having rounded portions journaled in said pieces, and the wagon-body divided longituloops and resting in the grooves in said crossboard to receive a lever to turn the section 10 pieces, straps secured to the cross-pieces and on the journaled beam, substantially as shown passing around said beams, boards secured and described.
to each beam forming one-half the fioor of In testimony whereof I hereto affix my sigthe wagon-body and one side thereof, the end 'nature in the presence of two witnesses. boards made in halves and secured to the rel ABNER CAREY. speetive floor and side boards thus forming Witnesses:
