To ALL WHoM 'Ir MAY eoNeERN:
Be it known that I, P. CAVALIER, of Plainview, in the county of Wabaslmw, and in the State of Minnesota,` l have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable S'caolds; `and. do hereby `declare that the` following is a full, clear, and exact deseription thereof, reference being had vto the aecompanying drawings, and to therletters of reference marked thereon. i
"In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, A A represent a series of4 bars which are ver` 3 tical, and B B represent a series of inclined bars, lthe two series being'placed ata suitable `distunee apnrt, and framed together substantially as represented, so as `to form a scaffold for builders or painters use. .VD reprei y sents the platformlupon which the painter or builder stands. This platform is provided with a. block and tackle i at each end, by means of which it is suspended and adjusted. C C undC represent the cross-pieces wh'iehl: connect the bars'A'and B at their upper ends. Upon these cross-pieces areV small `frames in which. are hung" of said tackle, pass through or over the pulleys J .I and K, and thence down through the centre of the scaffold#` frame, and are provided at their lower ends with a suitable weight, I. The operator, byTstanding upon `the i cent-re of the platform, can, by means of the cords G and II, vdraw up or lower said platform at will. E`
platform while the operator is at work upon it. When the platform is drawn up to its highest point, it becomes fast between theuprights A and B, and by making the cords andII fast, the operator can work upon :said` platform without changing the pins E E so as to hold it up. A "1 Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is``3` i The arrangement of the scaffold-frame, constructed as specified, with the platform D, block and-tackle F P, pulleys J J and K, and pins'E E, substantially asv and for the purpose herein set forth. A l
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand', this 12th day of August, 1867. 1
' P. CAVALIER.
