SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 707,347,`dated August 19, 1902.
Application filed December 5, 1901. Serial No. 84,786. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN P. NELSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waltham, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts,have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Tents; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,.clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to portable buildings or tents; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a front view of the tent, partly in vertical section. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view.
The bottom or floor Aof the tent is composed of two sections, which are provided with hinges a', so that they may be folded one onto the other when the tent is taken apart.
The tent is provided 'with a knockdown frame comprising uprights B, top cross-pieces b, and inclined rafters b. connected to the angles of the frame and meet together over the center'of the frame. The frame and the Iioor are' joined together by bolts or any approved fastening devices, so that they can be quickly taken apart. The frame is also provided with a hinged door C, which preferably opens inward.
The roof of the tent is formed of an outer band is secured to the under side of the ounce The rafters b' are p the roof and the outer sides E of the tent.
The lining F of the tent is attached to the inside of the frame by any approved fastening devices. Theliningis providedwithwindowopenings t, and the sides are provided with window-openings o'. These openings are arranged opposite each other and areprovided, respectively, with Iiaps h and t", which may be rolled up independently and secured by straps to afford a free passage for light and air in ne weather. These curtains when closed are secured by any approved fastening devices.
The whole tent is arrangedV so that it may be quickly put together and taken apart, and the air-spaces prevent the cold and wet from penetrating intoits interior.
What I claim is- In a tent, the combination, with a knockdown frame, of an outer covering of textile material extending over the exterior of the top and sides of the frame and provided with window-openings, an inner covering of textile material extending over the interior of the top and sides of the frame and provided with window-openings opposite the aforesaid window-openings, air-spaces being formed of the width of the elements of the said frame between the two said coverings, and curtains of textile material for closing the said win-I JoHN P.
