DENNISOBL OHIO. i
HOSE-BRIDGE SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 706,815, dated August 12, 1902.
Application liled-Maroh 3,1902.
T0 all whom, t may concern;
Be it known that we, GEORGE H. FRAZIER, JOHN W. WAGNER, and HARRY G. IsENRERG, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Dennison, in the countyTuscarawas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Bridges; of which the following is aspecifrcaton, ref; orence being had therein to the accompanying drawings. l i Y This invention relates to certain new and usefulimprovements in hose-bridges, and has for its object the provision of novel means whereby a fire-hose may be conveniently laid across the street-car tracks without interfering with traffic. Y
Another object of our invention is to provide a hose-bridge that may be securely attached to the rails, readily removed therefrom, and one that may be easily handled.
A still further object Lof our invention isA to provide a device of this character that will be extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, comparativelyinexpensive to manufacture, and highly efficient in its use.
With the above and other objects in View the invention consists in the novel construction, combination,and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, :forminga part of this speciicatiomand wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views,in which- Figure l is a side elevation of airail with our improved hose-bridge connected thereto. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional View of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the under facey of the hose-bridge.
In the` drawings the reference-numeral 1 indicates the rail, and 2 the Abody portion, of the hose-bridge. The body portion 2 is approximately are-shaped and is provided with vertically-arranged parallel sides. Formed integral with the lower edge of each side and extending'outwardly therefrom in horizontal planes are the flanges 4 l., carrying on their lower faces integral prongs 5 5. Y
3 indicates a rib formed integral with the lower side of the body portion 2 of the hose Serial No. 96,466. (No model.)
ber of iire-hose, or there may be a numberof openings formed through the body portion of the hose-bridge, as may be found desirable.
It will be noted that the prongs 5 adjacent to the central rib 3 will form a clamping engagement with the rail, and the other prongs will securely fasten and embed themselves in the road-bed between the paving-stones.
There will be two sections of each hosebridge, thesame being arranged opposite :each other upon the tracks, and these sections will each have a tread 7 corresponding with'the rail and will be acontinuation of the same, tapering downwardly on each side from the arc to a feather-edge and extending bejyond the respective ends of the lianges 4.
It willl be noted that by reason oif the peculiar construction of the base and the fastening means which said base carries these sections can be easily secured in place without the necessity of bolting the sections togetherl or connecting the same in any way.
The many advantages obtained by the use of our improved device will be readily apparent from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of our invention.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secureby Let ters Patent, is-
' A hose-bridge consisting of an .arcshaped body portion having an opening therein to receive the hose, outwardly-projecting horizontally-arranged rectangular-flanges formed integral with the lower portion of the body and extending the entire length thereof, a downwardlyprojecting rib formed integral with the lower face of the body portion and having beveled ends extending beyond'the ends of the flanges, said rib being secured. to
