LL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: e it known that We, THEODORE PURSE and HENRY C. DltAPER, of Ashley, in the county of Pike, and State souri, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Sack-Fasteners; and ive'do hereby declare e following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawaking part of this specification, and to the letters ofreference marked thereon, like letters indicating rts wherever they occur. i p 0 enable others skilled in the art to construct and use our invention, we will proceed to describe it. ur invention relates to sack-fasteners, and consists in bending and hinging two pieces of wire or other 1e material, so that they may be made to embrace-and securely hold the mouth of a sack. In thedrawin'gsigure 1 is a plan view in perspective, and I igure 2 is a view of the fastener as applied.
constructing our sack-fastener, we take two 'pieces of wire, A B, of any desired size and length, suitable r purpose. One ofthe pieces B we bend in bow-shape, and also so as to have aneye, a, and a hook, I), wn in fig. 1. These two pieces A B we then hinge at C in any of the ordinary ways, so that they may parallel with each other, and so that when they come together the hook b may readily be caught on to ece A. 1 1 I n using our sack-fastener, we gather up the mouth of the sack D, and then place the fastener'about it by slipp g the folds of the sack between the jaws of the fastenenand drawing the ends of the fastener together and cking them, as shown in fig. 2. The curved form of the piece B allows suflieient room for the folds or gath s of the sack. By means of the eye a we can attach the fastener to the sack D, so that it may be always read; for use in fastening the sack or in hanging it up, as well as secure against loss.
n this way we are able to provide a cheap and convenient ready fastener for sacks. :l aving thus described our invention, what we claim, is'
he sack-fastener, consisting of the two pieces of Wire A B, hinged or pivoted at 0, when bent and arranged to 0 rate substantially as described.
suita THEODORE PURSE, HENRY C. DRAPER.
