To ALL WHoM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN O. REYNOLDS, of Taunton, in the county of Bristol, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Knife-Sharpeners; and I do hereby .declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in whichl Figure 1 is a perspective view.
Figure 2 the same, with a knife in the proper position to be sharpened; and
Figure 3 showing another method of securing the tool or machine when in use.
A is the bed-piece or frame, B the clamp, T the thumb-screw, C C the Sharpeners or steels, 'and D lscrews to secure the machine to a table, when theclamp and thnmb-screw are not used. Into any piece of metal' of the desired size andthickness, as shown at A, I drill two holes (to receive the steels) at the same angle .with each other as I may desire to give to the edge of the knife when used, as shown in lig. 2. Into these holes I screw the steels or sharpeners C C. These sharpeners are made of steel, round or cylindrical, and uted or milled longitudinally. They are of such a length as to form, when screwed into the frame A, a figure somewhat resembling the letter X. Asthese steels" become worn, a new surface ispresented for use giving them a slight turn by means of a wrench used upon the endsiS Sv, which are made square for this pur-` pose. The plate of metal or frame A may be secured to the table or bench by any method practicable. One method is shown atfig. 1, another at fig. 3. l
