`JOHN C. BAXTER, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. l Letters Patent No. 70,315, dated October 29, 1867.
METALLIC GREEK-PIECE FOR BRIDLES.'
@te rtshuls nfemr tu in time etters atmt mit mating peut nf its mime.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN C. BAXTER, of the-city of Washington, in the District of Columbia, havehiuvented V certain new and useful Improvements in Cheek-Pieces for Bridles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specication, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, like letters indicating like parts wherever they occur. Y
To enable others skilled in the art to 'construct and use my invention, I will proceed to describe itJV My invention relates to improvements in bridles, and consists in constructing their cheek-pieces of metal. In the drawingsi Figure 1 is a plan view.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal vertical section on the linea: x of fig. 1, and
Figure 3 is across vertical section on the line y y of Iig. 1.
I construct my cheek-piece A of iron, brass, tin, or any other suitable metal, making it in any of the ordinary forms in common use, as shown' in figs. 1 and 2, by cutting it out of a single piece of metal in such a way that the loop B and eyes C maybe readily formed into the desired shape. The eyes C, I form so as to leave an opening for `the insertion of the buckle for connecting the cheek-pieoe A. with the other parts of the bridle. This opening irr the eyes C, I close with metal plates D,Aas shown in iig. 2, which may be hinged or 1 fastened in any convenient way.
In case it is desired to have a blinder, E, inl connection with the` cheek-piece A, it is obviousithet the Whole may he cut out, at vthe same time, of the same piece of metal. The outline of the' form of the blinder E and cheek-piece A, before being formed up, is clearly shown in ig. 1 in connection with the dotted lines, the part embraced in the dotted lines. forming the loop B.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, is-
A metallic cheek-piece for bridles, with or without -the blinder E, substantially as described:
