FRANK LANE LEVY, OF DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
CUTTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 701,061, dated May 27, 1902 Application filed October 16, 1901. `Serial No.4 78.830. (No model.)
To all whom t muy concern:
Beit knownthat I, FRANK LANE LEVY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cutters, of which the following is afull, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a device for cutting cloth in strips. It is particularly adapted to use by dressmakers for cutting material to form ruffies and like work.
This specification is a specific description of one form of my invention, while the claim is a definition of its actual scope.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forminga part of this specification,
in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is abottom plan view of the invention. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a detail of one of the cutters and its pin.
The bodyof the device is formed of a trans-V versely-extended preferably metallic bar a.
This bar is formed with vertically-disposedA With this device cloth may be cut in strips of any width desired. The Width of the strip may be regulated by raising or lowering the pins b. If it be desired, all of the cutters may be allowed to act, and any number of them may be raised out of action by manipulating the thumb-screws b.
The device is used by drawing the knives or cutters over the cloth, as will be clearly understood from Fig. 2, which shows the cutter in operative position.
Having thus described lny invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A cutter, comprising a bar forming a body 5o portion, a handle for the bar, pins mounted loosely on the har and extending transversely thereof, said pins being of uniform diameter to permit their free adjustment in the bar in direction longitudinally of the axis of pins, and the pins being of length considerably greater than the width of the bar, set-'screws working in the bar and respectively engag,1ra ing theA pins adjustably to hold them, and cutting-tools carried by the lower ends of the pins.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence ot' two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK LANE LEVY.
