GEORGE O. JAMES, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO. Letters Patent No. 70,094, dated October 22, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-SHADE SUPPORTERS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEQRGE 0. JAMES, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Lamp-Shade Supporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact' description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
My invention consists in constructing a lamp-shade supporter of a continuous piece of wire, the same being independent of the shade, so that the shade used may be an ordinary piece of paper, adapted to be thrown away and renewed at will..
The device will allow of the tilting of the shade, as the latter will slide over ecctntrically to the chimney and give a corresponding obliquity to the supporter. In the accompanying drawings-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my supporter detached.
Figure 2 is a view of the supporter in connection with the shade, the whole being attached to an ordinary lamp-chimney to exhibit the adaptation of the device for tilting the shade.
The 'wire A is bent to the shape as exhibited in fig. 1, loops or projections abeing formed at equal distances for the purpose of supporting the shade B, which latter can be an ordinary piece of paper tackedtogether at b.
It will be seen that the supporter is light and cheaply constructed, and, not being permanently connected to the shade, the latter can be removed and changed at will, or canted over to any position desired, as seen at fig. 2, the wire supporter always adapting itself to the obliquity of the shade.
I claim as new, and of my invention- A lamp-shade supporter, A, constructed with. wings or projections a, of one continuous piece of wire, as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set fny hand.
GEO. 0. JAMES.
