One object of this invention is to provide a device which will cheaply and readily moiszen and cool vegetables, fruits, and flowers.

A further object is that the device shall generally be placed in a location in front of she place of business of grocers, florists, marketmen, and dealers in vegetables or flowers.

A further object of this invention is to provide a device whereby refrigeration may be readily and cheaply maintained in houses, sick-rooms, hospitals, and the like.

Afur'ther object of the invention is to provide a device whereby an equable or uniform temperature may be maintained in greenhouses or conservatories.

Further objects of the invention will here inafter appear.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my improved spraying device as it appears in operation, also showing a water-supply pipe and a valve connected therewith. Fig. 2 is a section in the line 2 2 in Fig. 1 seen from the direction indicated by the arrows, andFig. 3 is a section in the line 3 3 seen from the direction of the arrows.

The invention consists, primarily, in adisk or plate A, supported by posts B, which posts are in turn supported by a lower disk or plate 0. Through the intermediate or central part of the disk 0 is a tube or pipe D.

It is to be understood that the plate or disk may be dispensed with and that the posts B and disk A may be supported by a wheel or ring (not shown) or in any desired or preferred manner.

Preferably the tube D is made integral with the disk 0, but may be threaded therethrough and thereafter screw-threaded on the part D (see Fig. 2) to fit a water-pipe connection from either a city water service or an elevated tank.

If preferred,-the part 0 may be seated loosely on a shoulder C on the water-supply pipe. In such case radially curved ledges (not shown) are formed on the lower surface of the disk A. By reason of these radially-curved ledges the force of the stream of water impinging thereagainst will cause the parts A, B, and G to revolve, and thus throw the mist or spray in a circular direction.

Through the center of the tube or pipe D and extending throughout its length is an orifice or nozzle E.

In operation the'device is attached to a wator-supply pipe F. The water being thrown from its source upwardly will impinge against the plate or disk A, and thereby create a fine spray or mist.

By the use of this invention the mist created and preserve vegetables, fruits, meats, or

other articles which are placed thereunder. If placed in a room, it will suffice to reduce the temperature in warm weather several degrees in a very few minutes and to a lesser degree than could be produced by the use of ice. When used in conservatories or greenhouses, it will be readily understood that the temperature may be regulated by the amount of water which is allowed to escape from the orifice E and to impinge against the disk A. A well-known fact is that grocers, florists, and marketmen display in front of their places of business during warm weather vegetables, flowers, fruits, and the like and that all these are often subjected to a high degree of temperature. It is thought that no device has heretofore been provided which will with so small expense save dealers from loss caused by warm Weather.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new is- 1. In combination, an upper plate or disk A, a lower plate or disk 0, a tube or pipe D, having a discharge-opening E, as and for the purposes described.

Lanstrum, of Galesburg, Illinois, for an improvement in Spraying Devices, an error appears in the printed specification requiring the following correction, viz: On page 1, in line 45, after the Word disk the reference letter 0 should be inserted and that the said Letters Patent should be read with this correction therein that the same may conform to the record of the case in the Patent Office.
